Vols guard injured in pickup game

05:58 AM ET 06.13 | Tennessee basketball player Ryan Childress will undergo knee surgery next week after getting hurt playing pickup basketball, the university announced Thursday. The severity of the injury was not disclosed. Childress, a 6-9 senior forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, averaged 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. "His return will be determined by his progress following the surgery," school officials said in a statement.

Sounds like he was just a role player. Probably would have been used more this year but not a huge loss like T. Simth or Chism.

The lead-in to this story refers to Childress as a guard. Someone at CNN/SI needs to learn the difference between a guard and a FORWARD. There aren't many 6 - 9 guards playing college basketball.
