Greg Oden's surgically repaired knee is progressing at such a clip that the man in charge of his rehabilitation believes he will be ready to play for the Trail Blazers during the 2008-09 exhibition season. "I totally expect Greg to be able to play in the preseason," says Jay Jensen, soon to begin his 15th season as the Blazer trainer. "How Nate [McMillan, the Portland coach] decides to use him, though, is up to Nate."

The era of dominance for Portland is about to begin.

Take note NBA, and Stern better NOT pull that fixed officiating crap on Portland again when they start kicking ****. =)

ESPN,

Hate all you want, but Portland sort of have bigger expectations for Oden than your Kandiman.

Is he related to Ewing by chance?? Dude is going to take over the role as the "Ugliest person in the NBA"

June 13, 2008  10:08 AM ET

Portland has an opportunity here, but I would not start counting rings just yet

June 13, 2008  10:52 AM ET

trade oden to miami for #2 pick

June 13, 2008  11:42 AM ET

He could be the greatest that never was... his injury is huge and though he will recover he might have issues through his playing time...kinda reminds me of G. Sayers in football.. of course he played a few years. It will be interested to see if he can stay healthy at least a full year. He can play and has the potential for great things but sometimes injuries early erase everything. Hope he can stay healthy.

June 13, 2008  12:43 PM ET

He was never and IS NEVER going to score 20 pts in this league-
he will be more of a Dikembe type-
will get you some pts off O rebounds & garbage buckets-
but will be more of a defender.

June 13, 2008  12:59 PM ET

I can agree with the Dikembe type

June 13, 2008  01:09 PM ET

He's way more athletic than Mutombo ever was. I'm thinking more like a Zo Mourning

June 13, 2008  01:22 PM ET

As long as he's not a LaRue Martin type ...

June 13, 2008  01:23 PM ET

lol here come the blazer fans calling him alonzo. alonzo has stayed relevant for years and years and years. this dude already has a crazy injury that may or may not effect the rest of his career, and you want to call him zo? yea maybe he will develop into shaq while hes at it

June 13, 2008  01:26 PM ET

um, yeah, maybe he will. there's a reason he was the number 1 pick

June 13, 2008  02:47 PM ET

Heartwarming to see a 53-year old making a comeback from injury!

June 13, 2008  03:16 PM ET

oden can score at ohio state he didnt have a right hand so he used his left. he was still very dangerous. Oden will be more of a 15 pt 10 rebound type guy his career.

oden looks overweight in that picture. By the way, he wouldn't have won ROY against Durant and he won't win this year due to Beasley.
