Bengals minicamp might have opened Thursday with the promise of a new season on the horizon, a chance to put aside the bad feelings associated with last year's 7-9 campaign. Instead, the day was shrouded in controversy regarding the team's most talked-about player, Chad Johnson. The disgruntled wide receiver, who has demanded a trade and said he feels alienated from teammates and coach Marvin Lewis, reported for workouts, was cleared to practice and then sat out most of the day's activities. Lewis, throughout the day, repeatedly tried to downplay any friction between player and team and seemingly reached out to Johnson. Wearing a microphone for Cincinnati.Com at the start of the 3 p.m. workout, Lewis walked up to Johnson, who was stretching. Lewis asked when Johnson was going to give him some love. Johnson said the situation was about business. Business is about playing, Lewis told Johnson. Johnson said it's frightening when a great player is angry. At one point during the afternoon, after the Bengals had said Johnson had passed a physical and had been cleared to practice but refused, agent Drew Rosenhaus, working from an SUV in the parking lot, responded. "Chad is not refusing to practice. He's not practicing because he has an (ankle) injury that easily could lead to an operation," the agent said.

Down with Rosenhaus! What a lying buzzard!

June 13, 2008  06:44 AM ET

Ah, gold ole Ocho Stinco!

June 13, 2008  06:45 AM ET

At least they found a new, less friendly picture of him. That "I'm a little teapot" image was getting old and tired all at once.

June 13, 2008  06:46 AM ET

Should be an interesting summer..

June 13, 2008  07:16 AM ET

Ahh, the old "fake an ankle injury" trick. Inventive. Maybe he's gonna try to "Keyshawn" his way outta town now.

June 13, 2008  07:17 AM ET

Why do players like Rosenhaus .. he sucks

June 13, 2008  07:19 AM ET

Players like Rosenhaus, because he gets his clients big contracts.

June 13, 2008  07:23 AM ET

"I'm going to pass on talking about Chad today," Palmer said. "I think everybody in here is probably sick of hearing about him and everybody out there is sick of hearing about him."

Palmer has this covered.

this guy is absolutely ridiculous!! they should deactivate him immediately. he's a joke with only himself in mind. its sickening that the media even entertains his shenanigans. this is about business, bad business on him and his agent. if he doesn't want to play on the team.....sit his butt down permanently! its just like a baby throwing a fit until they get what they want. and its no coincidence that he and TO share the same agent. TO was doing this very thing just a few years ago. make him pay and sit him out!!

June 13, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Maybe he will get hurt...........badly.

June 13, 2008  07:57 AM ET

Keep it up Ocho Bozo. You are the most retardidly entertaining self-centered whack job going right now. Stage is all yours....

.B. Bechtel, a part-time City Councilman from Midland, TX , was
asked on a local live radio talk show, just what he thought of the
allegations of torture of the Iraqi prisoners.

His reply prompted his ejection from the studio, but to thunderous
applause from the audience.

"If hooking up an Iraqi prisoner's balls to a car's battery cables will save
one Texas GI's life, then I have just three things to say."

"'Red is positive."
"Black is negative."
"Make sure his balls are wet."

This one had me puzzled, since I am not too far from Midland, and I had never heard this story. I thought it was unlikely that the radio station would throw the guy out, so I looked into it. The Midland city council hasn't had a Bechtol or Bechtel on its roster. None of the newspapers locally refer to such a person, which would be remarkable for a city councilman.

Upon further looking, it turns out the urban myth web sites are already onto this one.

It is a good story, but the guy isn't from Texas, a city councilman, and it wasn't on the radio. He's a professional comedian.

I'm sure he is laughing right now.

It's one thing to put up a funny story, but to claim it's real is another. This urban myth has been going around a long time.
