Sources: Sens to hire Hartsburg

The Senators might have a new coach as early as today. But thanks to a strange twist, it looks like it won't be Kitchener Rangers coach Peter DeBoer. League sources told Sun Media last night that Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds coach Craig Hartsburg, who has emerged as the front-runner for the Senators post, was "in deep discussions with the club throughout the day" and flew into Ottawa last night. If talks continue to go well, a deal could be completed today. The only certainty is former Atlanta coach Bob Hartley is out of the Ottawa picture.

Great choice, he deserves another shot in the NHL.. A way better choice then Hartley IMO.

Wow, I have to say I am shocked at the quick change on DeBoer. He must have really rubbed Eugene the wrong way, considering all the Kitchener media were pretty much reporting it was a slam dunk, done deal.

I often wondered if Craig Hartsburg was ever going to coach again after his days with the Chicago Blackhawks. After the garbage treatment he got from cheap Bill Wirtz and sad sack Bob Pullford I thought he might not want to ever coach again!

I'm glad he's back! Too bad he'll be working for Bryan Murray, though. I wonder if he'll give Craig a fair shot and let him do his job.

Agreed, Sho Nuff. I'm glad that a*ss, Bob Hartley is out of the picture! Craig's always been a classy individual. Apparently Bob Hartley's never even heard the word!

Good choice with hartsburg, a classy player and coach.

Truthfully, I believed Tortorella was what this emotion-less team needed, but hiring him is a gamble with his fiery persona.

This is Murray's last kick at the can, if Hartsburg can't get the desired results, Murray will be let go by Money Bags Melnyk.

Great choice

I think the coice is good, but as noted, he has to be let alone to do his job.

He will have great challenges ahead of him.

Being a selfish codger as I am I'd rather see SJ get Tortorella. I sort of almost but not quite like SJ.

Ottawa is nowhere near being on my favourite list so I prefer to see them remain underachievers.

I like seeing the Laffs wallow in the muck as well.

Deadmonton and Calgary get my support up here in Canuckistan but I just can't pull for the big city teams.
