His heart and his home are in Orlando, but Keyon Dooling could be leaving both behind next season. Dooling is one of six Magic players who will become unrestricted free agents July 1, but also the one they would least like to lose.Dooling, 28, averaged just 8.1 points in 18.5 minutes last season -- his third in Orlando -- but his defensive spark and his ability to play both backcourt positions gave Coach Stan Van Gundy more roster flexibility, helping the Magic to their best finish in 12 years.

oh wow, take out your piggy banks for keyon dooling. literally. i wouldn't pay more than your son's piggy bank for him

Doolings a good bench guy he provides a lot of energy off the bench and works hard on defense most nights. I wouldn't break the bank but I would like to have him on my team.

come to miami

June 13, 2008  08:34 AM ET

miami does not need a great point guard to get back to 2006
the celtics will win without a great point guard
miami won with williams
the bulls did not have a great point guard
the heat need a small foward badley and i think beasley will be great he will score and rebound more then lebron james
and miami could trade for kwame brown
and i think deaquan cook will be a good player

Bye Bye Dool

June 13, 2008  09:59 AM ET

he was the reason that the Heat lost to the pistons in 05...he 's not a good ball handler and only an average shooter with minimul pressure....im not seeing it

June 13, 2008  11:03 AM ET

Peace.

You are a journeyman......
whatever you do will ahve NO IMPACT at all on anything.

So test the water, don't test the water......WHATEVER

June 13, 2008  01:26 PM ET

Doolings is ok but he is in no position to try to sale himself with another team...he barely played with Orlando in the clutch

June 13, 2008  02:46 PM ET

So he is the "next big thing since sliced bread?!" Is he trying to make the big bucks like gilbert arenas??

I wonder why Dooling isn't a superstar. I mean when he was in Miami, Pat Riley chose Damon Jones over him even though he clearly outplayed Damon. Then they just let him walk and kept Damon Jones again. But i figured out its because his coaches don't call plays for him because they focus on other players. The guy can fly and dunk, is quick and has one of the quickest first steps in the game and second step...he can shoot from outside, including the 3. I think he's better than just a second string and i know he's 28 and should be further in his career, but imagine if coaches were using him more, setting more isolations for him, etc. i think he could be a star guard. He's a stephan marbury type except with a better outside shot.

Dooling would be a good fit for the Suns. He could be a back up to Nash and make up for what Nash lacks defensively. He wouldn't need to shoot threes, just play defense.

Of course, if the guy wants money, the Suns is probably not the place to find it.

Miami should return Dooling 2 the Heat & get ride of Marcus Banks.
