Highly touted receiver Cruz Williams won't enroll at Arkansas and instead will play for Louisiana Tech, according to a news report. The News-Star of Monroe, La., reported Thursday that the 6-4, 208 pound receiver out of Pulaski Academy in Little Rock will play for Louisiana Tech Coach Derek Dooley. Williams told the News Star that it no longer felt like a good fit when he went to the Fayetteville campus a couple of months ago. Williams caught 105 passes for 1,306 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior and was a top recruit of new Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.......................

That's a brand new low for Bobby Paatrino, out recruited by Derrick Dooley (Tech's coach).

Keep it up Bulldogs!

wow, he really stuck it to petrino

June 14, 2008  10:48 AM ET

I hope Petrino fails at Arkansas. Nothing against Arkansas, just think Petrino is a piece of chit.

Not only this but 5 star recruit Darius Winston just withdrew his verbal from Arkansas and names Michigan the leader as of right now. That will probably chance if and when TX offers him.

Cruz Williams was not going to be academically eligible to play at Arkansas or the SEC. To save face he says "He wasn't feeling the love from Petrino". La Tech is simply getting a player who couldn't cut it academically in the SEC. I simply don't understand people today. Owners have the right to fire coaches anytime they want during the season and nobody says anything. If coaches decide to quit during the season everybody throws a fit about it. Talk about a double standard!

June 14, 2008  10:50 PM ET

Cruz Williams is academically inelgible. There was no choice! He cannot play in the SEC.

June 14, 2008  11:47 PM ET

Regardless, Tech can use the help.

June 15, 2008  12:31 AM ET

I wish any High School player going to play College Ball. Would boycott Arkansas while Petrino is their Coach. Make them have to fire him and I hope no other NCAA school will offer him a job. Someone like him has no business Coaching anywhere.

At least at La. Tech, a kid knows he has a coach with some class and integrity and not a mercenary who will be gone in 2 years.

Consider the source...The Atlanta Journal Constitution. They are still mad at Petrino. Look, bust on him for the way he left but don't bust on him because he left. The Falcons are an embarassment. Arthur Blank is a terrible manager. He franchised Michael Vick. Do some research. Arthur Blank was FORCED out as CEO of the company he co-founded (Home Depot) because of his lack of management skills.
Petrino took a pay cut to get out of that dead end job. I don't agree with the way he did it but I commend him for taking a pay cut (which so many coaches won't do.)
Again, Cruz Williams didn't make his grades. There was no choice. Cruz is just trying to save face. His dream was to play for Arkansas. What receiver wouldn't want to play for a Petrino offense?
Enough with the Petrino bashing. He did what he thought was best for his family. NFL coaches are fired all the time. I believe even Arthur Blank fired Hall of Fame coach Dan Reeves before the season ended. What is the difference?

My thoughts exactly jakesec. People, get over it with this Petrino nonsense!! Leave the man alone. My goodness. I don't hear people complain this much about Bin Laden!!

June 16, 2008  12:42 AM ET

Cruz didn't even come close to qualifying for the SEC academically. These stories are a joke

June 16, 2008  09:06 AM ET

Bin Laden has been loyal to his team for years! Petrino goes where the money goes or when the seat gets warm.

June 16, 2008  12:28 PM ET

D. Sliq,

Petrino took a pay cut to get out of the laughable Falcons organization. I would too if the franchise player and the face of the franchise is serving time in prison. Add in the fact that the owner is a derelict manager. They won't see the playoffs for years and years. The Falcons are the joke of the NFL. Your statement makes no sense and is false.

June 16, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Jakesec,

I'm an outsider but I love SEC football. Please note "or when the seat gets warm" (from public and team criticism) Don't know him, but the guy seems to take the easy way out, rather than gutting it out and maintaining integrity IMHO.

June 16, 2008  03:12 PM ET

D. Sliq,

I understand what you are saying. But, he stayed at Louisville at 5 years. I just think he has taken far too much criticism. ESPN knocks him all the time. Could it be because their biggest sponsor is Home Depot? Even Jim Mora said the Atlanta Falcon job was a dead end job. Arthur Blank has made one bad decision after another with that franchise. I would probably run to the next coaching job too if I had a QB in prison and the best defensive player was the biggest thug in the NFL (DeAngelo Hall.)

June 16, 2008  04:27 PM ET

He has his reasons. I wish the kid good luck.

June 16, 2008  04:37 PM ET

Raise Her Back aint got chit to say on this one wow.

June 16, 2008  06:42 PM ET

His reasons are he is not eligible to play at an SEC school. He has to pass all of his summer classes to be able to play for Louisiana Tech. With all due respect to Tech, why would he transfer there? Because that is the only place where he can get admitted.
