Mets expecting shake-up soon

Willie Randolph will begin the day as Mets manager, and even if he ends it that way, there is still a strong sense that some sort of shake-up must occur - whether that is Sunday, next Sunday or at the All-Star break. Omar Minaya could shift his focus to jolting the coaching staff, most likely the pitching coach Rick Peterson, with the hope that such a move could inspire his sagging team.

Today is Father's Day?? Holy Moley, I thought it was next Sunday. Oh, crap-a-doodle-noodle!

June 15, 2008  12:04 PM ET

I'd wait until after Father's Day.....then fire Willie.

If the Met's don't turn it around after Willie's gone, then I'd start dumping players. Reyes, Wright, Johan, and Maine are untouchable. Everyone else had better step up or or start looking over their shoulder.....

It's the Mets. What can anyone do? That the way it is. This not Yankees.

June 15, 2008  12:43 PM ET

Reyes and Beltran and Delgado are underachieving big time, and other than Santana, the pitching has been inconsistent at best. the answer -- dump the manager. Willie should have kept quiet about his race, 'cause no one knew he was black before he said something.

June 15, 2008  01:15 PM ET

Too bad. He is a good man. He forgot more about baseball than the clowns he manages ever will. It will do nothing to remove him this year, but that is the way it goes. Takes pressure off the organization for assembling these losers is all.
I hope he gets another chance someday, he earned it all those years working for the Yankees.

June 15, 2008  03:28 PM ET

Long Wang, the Yankees aren't exactly the team the Mets or anyone else tries to emulate these days.....They haven't won anything since 2000.

The Mets need a National League style manager. The team is built for speed but no one steals bases. Beltran only runs during the All-Star game when the national audience is watching. When was the last time Willie called for a hit and run? Does he even know what that is???
