T-Wolves favor Love over Lopez

The Timberwolves rated 7-foot Brook Lopez from Stanford as a nice kid when he worked out for them recently, but nowhere near worth their No. 3 pick in the June 26 NBA draft. Best bet if the Wolves decide to draft a center is UCLA's 6-10 Kevin Love, who is scheduled to work out for them at Target Center.

brook lopez will be the tallest tawol boy in the nba

Kevin Love will be a better athlete in the NBA than Lopez, but they'll both be mediocre. I could be wrong, however.

This is a no-brainer

June 17, 2008  08:32 AM ET

It doesnt matter who they draft McHale will find a way to screw this up, he should of been fired years ago but he is buddies with Glen Taylor so that won't happen.

the nba i turing into a guard league a big man is a waste of time

No tall white guy should be taken this high ever. If they don't get Mayo or Beasley, someone needs to think about ways of getting rid of McHale, legal or otherwise.

Hopefully they favor Mayo over Love.

Arvydas Sabonis, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Bill Walton, Kevin McHale, Bill Laimbeer...I hear those guys aren't/weren't too bad. Larry Bird is 6' 9"...only 1 inch shorter than Love.

June 17, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Now, I'm not saying Love will necessarily be as good as those guys, but give the guy a chance.

Only if your a heat fan... hey guess what.. both the teams in the finals have big good big men...

Neither one will set the NBA on fire so does it really matter which one the T-Wolves will choose?

June 17, 2008  10:27 AM ET

This is retarded if they draft him at number three...maybe logical if they trade down. If someone really wants to use a top 5 pick on him then go ahead and waste a pick. If he falls to about 10 then maybe grab him. So many say he is such a good passer which he is, but he is going to be facing nba defenses and its not like he can run the point. The TWolves need a legit outside scoring threat!

# 3 needs to be a franchise-caliber player-
NEITHER lopez or love are.....

Unfortuately in this draft there is likely only one of those-
Rose.

If they were smart they would TRADE OUT

Trade out for what? They need young talented players, and mayo or beasly offer that at 3, besides no one is gonna give them equal value for the pick

Agression training is only available with K9 training....Draft Love

June 17, 2008  11:03 AM ET

"Trade out for what? They need young talented players"

How about a veteran who can give them some scoring & defense?
why do they need MORE young players.....?
young players need time to develop-
tehir starting unit is ALREADY young

June 17, 2008  11:07 AM ET

That's good. This will help validate my thinking of Lopez to Seattle to pair up with Kevin Durrant.

June 17, 2008  11:10 AM ET

Not only did Love manhandle both twins 3 times this year, he also has better overall game

June 17, 2008  11:18 AM ET

Trade down...Picks between #3 and #10 all have about the same amount of upside this year...

Posts on multiple boards have stated they should take Beasley at #3. Miami and Chi are dumb enough to let him fall - sure grab him. I can't believe Riley or paxson would be that stupid.
