Why Glenn wants out out Dallas

Terry Glenn's relationship with the Cowboys is to the point where he would like to be released. Tension between the Cowboys and Glenn has been building since the team refused to let him take part in organized team activities because of his surgically repaired right knee. According to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, Glenn agreed to a $500,000 split salary should he re-injure his right knee. Should the knee hold up, Glenn would make the $1.74 million that his current contract calls for. Glenn said otherwise. "I was told that I would be released if I didn't sign [the split-salary agreement]," Glenn said. Glenn made $5.82 million last season but played in only one game plus the playoff game because of two knee surgeries.

6 million for a player with a bum knee? Glenn is stealing money from the Boys and JJ should know better than to allow that.

June 18, 2008  06:36 AM ET

@ Cuttie, "she's" your favorite player?

June 18, 2008  06:47 AM ET

"that is too big of a risk for our team to take. And I don't think any team will take that risk."..Jones

Excuse me, but isn't this the same guy that took on Pacman Jones? Since when did taking risks come in to the equation? For 1.75 million I would just keep him and hope for the best.. Who are you gonna get for that kind of money?

June 18, 2008  07:32 AM ET

Let him walk (no pun intended).

June 18, 2008  07:52 AM ET

He's just running back to Bill, his safety blanket. Maybe Keyshawn can join you. You two are pathetic....Jerry should have released your **** last year.

June 18, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Three freakin' Cowboy threads. OK, the Miami one is sort of related but, come on. Hey T&R mods. You guys invite hate.

June 18, 2008  08:20 AM ET

June 18, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Hey, I thought that Dallas is going to win it all this year (at least that's what all the BANDWAGON "fans" say). Why would he want to be released from a Super Bowl team?

Cant you read he doesnt want to sign his "money" away even though he got paid 5mill for two games.Could it be Terry knows deep inside that he could end up on the injury list again.

It ain't stealing if the check has a legal signature.

June 18, 2008  09:12 AM ET

It's plain and simple.......Jones gave him nearly six million last year for 4 plays........

He needs to give something back now. Jerry Jones revived Terry Glenn's career.

June 18, 2008  09:31 AM ET

4 plays 5 million bucks.
TG sign the stupid waiver, or get the hell out !!!

June 18, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Me and Terry Glenn had the same number of catches last year. Only difference is he got 5 million. Either sign the waiver or sit at home..

June 18, 2008  10:04 AM ET

No player is so stupid as to agree to the deal Jones offered. Why would you..H eas a contract to get paid 1.75 mil this year... Jones has no gripe, it happens. He went to the Free Agencty market to get a receiver when he got Glenn. He had to because the Cowboys have not drafted and developed a top receiver in a looonng time..Just suck it up, pay him, play him and hope for the best..What is 1.74 mil to him or the team now. The only way he can recoup some of the money he had to pay last year is by hopeing for some production from the guy this year..He has already paid him a lot, might as well go all the way now....

Mea Culpa...The Packers traded Glenn to the Cowboys, he did not come via free agency....it was after the patriots got two fourth rounders for him from the Pack...
