Haynesworth offers Titans solution
With talks regarding a long-term contract going nowhere, the agent for Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has proposed an alternative. Haynesworth would sign a one-year tender and in return the Titans would agree not to franchise-tag him next season. If the Titans agree to Speck's request, they would have to sign Haynesworth to a long-term contract next offseason or risk losing him to another team in free agency. The Collective Bargaining Agreement allows teams to place the franchise tag on a player for up to three years in a row.

This guy should only hope they put the franchise tag on him. I don't know what the amount for a tagged DT is, but it's more than he's worth. He'll be gone in a year or two from now anyhow....get what you can while you can

He's already been tagged for this year, tag him the next two years and bring in someone to replace him after year three, he'll be going into his tenth season by then anyway so they could get someone younger between now and then in the draft.

Haynesworth was a beast last season. He was immature and didn't hit his full potential until last season. The Gurode incident was crazy but it seems that Albert has finally put it together and now he is a straight monster for at least another 4 seasons.

This guy is a game changer on defense. The Titans had a strong start last season mostly because of his play. Once he was injured the Titans started losing some games.
Id take him up on his offer. Odds are he will be gone in 2-3 years because of an injury.

They will get him signed. Adams is just being cheap right now. He is the anchor of that defense as seen by their play when he missed those 3 games last year and their rush defense took a hit.

I completely disagree. I suppose you talk about the foot tepping incident years back. He has changed a lot since then and turned into an All-Pro. He deserves to be paid like what he is and that is a top DT in the NFL.

I have no problem with the franchise tag. I just think they should sign him long-term. He was obviously important to this team. Why not keep him for more than the next two or three years.
