Burke-Maple Leafs rumors won't die

The Scotiabank Place seating plan won't allow Brian Burke and the Maple Leafs to play footsie under the draft table. But the National Hockey League is not going to spend this whole weekend in Ottawa on stakeout to make sure the Leafs and Burke's Anaheim Ducks stick to business while in such close proximity. The rumors that the Leafs are courting Burke, who isn't staying in the same hotel as the Leafs brass this weekend, to be their president/GM at the end of this season when his Ducks deal expires just won't subside. And they won't until Anaheim ownership makes the call to extend Burke or let him go.

Slow news day .......

This must be a real non-story: patriotscheated couldn't even think of something idiotic to say about it! Maybe he couldn't find a way to trash Minnesota in the process?

Burke is pulling the strings in Toronto. Look at the last two hirings with the Leafs. Both have close ties with Burke. Fletcher will keep his seat warm until the Ducks get fed up, or her contract expires.

======================
And I'm guessing that with a Wheeler to Boston deal captioned by a photo of Chara on another thread this morning...Its a foregone conclusion that you're right Spiny...Something is being pulled... and Speaking of BGM...

I like these Burke rumours and such...but then I'm fond of mystery and clandestine intrigue in true Ludlum fashion. I suspect Burke will eventually waddle his way from Anahiem to Toronto sooner or later.

Can somebody put a stake through this beast's heart? Like a vampire, it refuses to die!

I saw this had no posts for a while, I thought it was a positive sign, you know maybe if none responds to this sh.. it'll go away.

Toronto IS the center of the hockey universe. This is why stories/non-stories always appear. Where else can you find hockey news about a team that was eliminated from the playoffs 3 months ago?
Toronto media knows what each player had for breakfast 2 days ago and are waiting for a slow news day just so they can bring it up.

Bringing up someone's breakfast WOULD be slow news!

well everyone knows he's moving to Toronto...just WHEN is the question

June 18, 2008  03:26 PM ET

Nothing to say about this.

June 18, 2008  03:26 PM ET

Please - he will be gone at the end of the season when his contract is up - we get it! Can we move on now? Please don't turn this into another Forsberg where there is "new" story everyday. All it ever is is a repeat of every previous story just worded slightly differently. MOVE ON!!!!

Won't die? Neither will Obi Wan Kenobi. If you strike him down, more powerful than even you can imagine, he will become.

I hate Burke rumors! The only Burke stories I enjoy are the ones were he's throwing tantrums and is pis*sing all over himself, like when Kevin Lowe caught him with his pants down, **** instead of doing his job!
