The agent for goaltender Cristobal Huet said negotiations with the Washington Capitals on a contract extension are ongoing and have been "productive and well intentioned." But Stephen Bartlett also cautioned that there is much work remaining -- work that could begin this weekend at the NHL entry draft in Ottawa, where he expects to negotiate face-to-face with General Manager George McPhee.

I would love to see the Caps become one of the elite teams in the NHL. I love to watch AO. He is the one who should be getting the hype instead of Crosby.

June 19, 2008  07:10 AM ET

That's the first positive thing you've ever said patriotscheated (yes, I know it's you)

June 19, 2008  07:15 AM ET

Actually, I've said a lot of positive things. I usually only rip the Penguins and the Tame. Hockey is by far my favorite sport and I'm dissapointed that America doesn't embrace it.

June 19, 2008  07:18 AM ET

As far as your Oilers, I'd love to see them come back onto the radar.

Don't you get sick of hearing the comparison of Cindy Crosby to the Great One? Crosby can't even hold Waynes jock strap.

When it's all said and done, AO will have a better career.

You cannot keep bringingCrosby into every thread on here. But I'll tell you what, I'll respond if you STOP CALLING HIM CINDY!!!

BETTMAN S***S | 06/19/08, 07:18 AM

I love watching both guys play, it'll be fun atching both careers run their course, Washington will quickly become a solid team that will scare teams just like the penguins, they have good young talent, some solid young d coming up with Alsner and if they sign Huet they should be a solid playoffteam for years to come. I look for them and the Blackhawks to be the next wave of young teams to get seriously into the hunt over the next couple of years.

June 19, 2008  07:45 AM ET

And I love those new/throw back uniforms. Scott Stevens was the best to ever where one of the originals.

June 19, 2008  08:09 AM ET

He is the one who should be getting the hype instead of Crosby.

Hey youse over there, Ovechkin gets penty of hype. And if you're such a knowledgeable hockey fan, then how come you can't recognize Crosby's talent in spite of your anti-Pens bias ( this coming from a Caps fan BTW )???? But then again, wasn't that you that wanted the NHL to go back to 6 teams??? Nuff said.

And it's Zetterberg that the NHL needs to ramp up on the hype machine. He's the best two way player in the NHL ( or would that be Datsyuk - how scary is this?? ) and easily as exciting as AO or Crosby. Hopefully lots of people watched him almost single-handedly dismantle the Pens on that 5 on 3....made me run for another peanut butter and banana sandwich......

Now that guy evolv, he seems to know his hockey......

Signing Huet is the single most important thing the Caps need to get done this off-season. If Green plays hard-ball and we can't get him signed to a long-term extension? That would stink but getting Huet under contract MUST happen.

Well thank you very much, I really appreciate that, you know people tell me that all the time..... hey wait your being sarcastic aren't you, that's just mean. I'm hurt.

I agree with this, but I also think Federov is important to keep too. Is he signed?

This is because BETTMAN S***S. He has the temerity to assumen what the average American wants to see, and assumes it is only goals. This is of course, idiotic. Of course a real fan loves two way hockey as much as goal scoring.

I told you Spiny, he's trying to impress you. Maybe he has a thing for hedgehogs? And look, he even tried to be nice about the Caps this morning, unlike his usual invective about, well, almost everyone else. Shame he spoiled it with that crack at Crosby .....

If he's trying to impress me...he needs a REAL hobby
he sounds like a really young kid trying to very hard to be witty/funny, neither of which he is very good at. Is he a Caps fan? Or is he just one of those guys that thinks new is best? To ponder this anymore would be to give the mistaken impression that I actually give a c**p

Green will re-up. He loves playing under Boudreau's new and improved wide- open system ( I'm a learnin', I'm a learnin' ) - it suits his aggresive style and gives him good numbers. He's hungry too, you can sense it. He craves that Cup like I crave another peanut butter and fried banana sandwich. The Caps are on the rise!

Why Federov? To my way of thinking, he took too many ineffective long distance slap shots during those last couple of games with the Flyers instead of taking the time to set things up. Wasted shots and wasted time. I know Ovechkin likes playing with his fellow Russkies though.

And no evolv, I meant that from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you, thank you very much. ( I did however disagree with you on that Walz becoming an asst. coach thread ). I think that was you anyway. Coulda been bgm. All you Boston guys look alike....

One last ? as I've seen a couple of contradictroy statements on this here: Is Boston one of the original 6? I thought it was Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Chi., NY and the Bruins. Yes? No? Enquiring minds need to know.....

Yes they are, and that is in fact, the storied 6 you listed. In point of fact though, the "Original 6" is a bit of a misnomer, but that is the accepted listing. For instance, does anyone know;
why "The Forum" was built?
The first American team to win the Cup?

June 19, 2008  10:46 AM ET

seabird...

actually I was just kidding around with Walz, I actually like the scrappy little guy, his rookie "young guns" card was one of the few I kept for a long time. The picture was taken right after he scrapped someone, a great picture. I was upset that he never stuck with the Bruins. Was glad when he resurfaced with the Wild.

June 19, 2008  10:47 AM ET

Seattle Metropolitans one the cup in 1917, the first US team to do so.
