The Raiders expect new receiver Javon Walker to be ready for training camp when he recovers from injuries incurred during a robbery in Las Vegas last weekend. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin finally spoke to Walker by phone on Wednesday morning, more than two days after Walker was discovered unconscious and beaten on a back street near the Las Vegas Strip following a night of partying. Walker was released from a hospital after treatment for a concussion and facial injuries. "The info that I have is he's going to be fine," Kiffin said. "Training camp won't be an issue. ... But until our guys look at him, I don't want to say (the extent of Walker's injuries)."

Good for him, I'm glad its not a carrer ending beating he received.

Nothing ever happens good for NFL players in Vegas. Especially on the strip. I'd want his dumb **** in camp too for all the jack he's being paid.

have some champagne ready to welcome him into camp

June 19, 2008  09:17 AM ET

So he DIDN'T have an orbital fracture? Thank his lucky stars.

In case anybody wonders why the Raiders will be picking in the top 5 for the next 10 years look no further that Javon Walker.$16 million dollars for 2 serious knee surgeries sound bad enough but,for a WR?Ludicrous. How about $50 mil for Tommy Kelly?Torn ACL and his only sack last year was against Miami.Better still is $70 mil for DeAngelo Hall.If you can't catch Hines Ward from behind, you are not a 70 mil. corner.(who is more over rated,Hall or S Roy Williams?)And Finally,JaMarcus Russell.Unless they get to play Notre Dame every week, this will also prove to be yet another huge financial mistake.(do the Raiders even have a scouting department?)Good luck........

This guy is such a tool! I do not know why all the news outlets are acting like he's a victim? You get wasted in Las Vegas and pour champagne on people. you ought to get a beat down.

June 19, 2008  09:49 AM ET

The RAIDERS (and yes I am a fan) wasted a lot of money this offseason

June 19, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Too bad he wasn't in Green Bay. No one could beat him up there. They are all too drunk.

June 19, 2008  11:28 AM ET

I still say he is a horrible signing. He has had three knee surgeries in as many years and then this off the field incident. But maybe that does fit with the Raiders of today.

Not another nightclub incident. When are these boneheads ever going to learn. Nothing good happens after midnight and certainly nothing good happens at nightclubs. Find some other outlets, go to a movie, go to a concert, stay home and watch sportscenter, okay that last one wasn't fair, but it still better then a nightclub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (1)

ahh I'm glad he is alive, but glad he isn't in denver

June 19, 2008  09:15 PM ET

This guy has had a string of bad luck over the past four seasons, and hopefully he will make an impact on this team... GOOD LUCK J.W.!

This is football - what's a little concussion and some facial boo boos - he better have his **** at camp and no "personal matters" excuses keeping him away !!!
