Bears may start rookie RB

The final practice session of the offseason Wednesday did little to indicate who will be the Bears' starting quarterback Sept. 7 at Indianapolis. At least some names were ruled out at running back. Coach Lovie Smith put the kibosh on the idea that the team will bring in an experienced back, making it clear that rookie second-round pick Matt Forte is being counted on as the starter from Day 1.

I guess Lovie wants to join Willie Randolph in the unemployment line ...

Report Offensive CommentIt dosent matter, Grosman's still going to trip on his on foot and fumble the ball before the hand off anyway

Report Offensive CommentI think they spelled it out when they drafted a RB with their first pick. Wonder who they'll draft next year to replace Forte?

Report Offensive CommentNo open competition at a key offensive position....? Sounds very Bears to me.
Eh, what else can he say though, "All of our backs are terrible. We will add a player soon."

I noticed it as well. The FanNation editors make so many typos and errors on their site. Honestly, SI can't hire less idiots?

Report Offensive CommentThe Bears could be in serious trouble this year. No QB, everybody seems unhappy, Forte is unproven. Fortunes can turn quickly in the NFL.

Report Offensive CommentWe're the Bears. We don't DO free agents. Derek Anderson? Forget him... we've got Rexie!

Report Offensive CommentAt least give him the shot through the preseason. Then if he struggles you can bring someone else in.

Report Offensive CommentThe Bears are going to kill it this year. Watch for Hester to become one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL. Rashied Davis will be the suprise of the season too. They have a big chip on their shoulder after the Superbowl hangover. Now they are the underdogs and loving it.
GO BEARS!!!

Report Offensive CommentLovie is very predictable. Grossman is our QB.... until he isn't. Having said that, I don't think any of free agent RB's are going to be the answer, so he is better off seeing what the rookie can do. Seems like a good enough game plan.
