UW in no hurry to hire AD

It's been more than six months since Todd Turner "resigned'' as Washington's athletic director and the school has yet to hire a permanent replacement. But UW officials insist there is nothing alarming about the seemingly lengthy process to make a hire. There has been speculation that UW may have recently interviewed UTEP AD Bob Stull, who was in town on his way to a vacation in Alaska. It's also known that former Husky kicker Chuck Nelson remains a candidate. Considering that each has lengthy ties to the school, it figures that both would leap at the job if offered. Given that fact, it seems likely that each is more of a fallback candidate. There have been constant rumblings about former Oregon AD Bill Moos, as well.

UW should be in a bigger hurry to hire a football coach!

Ty is a good coach...its just tough to recruit in the Pac-10, especially in the northwest where Washington State and Oregon have nice programs...Ty is a good honest guy..he is the reason I MADE my son go to Notre Dame...

Then you get all sensitive when the ND haters show up on Irish threads. Living in a glass house throwing stones...

Wa2Sea...Ty is an outstanding person, no question about that but as my boss told me 20 years ago as he was firing me from my job as a bond salesman..."You're the type of guy I hope my sister marries but you are not very good at selling bonds."

arejaydub...Your point is well taken...

come on gariboy; your boss was probably just hoping that his sister married a man.

philly98... I am sure that comment was intended to make sense.

As a ND fan I was sad to see him go,though I knew there might be better choices out there for us,you couldnt help but think in the right school he will be GREAT FIT!!! I hope 4 his sake that one day that will be the case.

I like how the topic changed from UW's AD to Ty as coach.

Lets not make excuses for him, Ty's a grown man. It's his job to get the best players he can. I just think he could try a bit harder.

As for forcing your son to go to ND, all I can say is it SHOULD have been your son's choice, not yours.

If he was a good coach he would recruit the entire country like Bellotti does at Oregon. He's not getting it done.

Sexton,..I think our kids need a little nudge in the right direction..He was bored as heck in the Hoosier state, but he has since then got his BS and a 5th year to play football...Oh, and he thanked me..

No, no, no. Don James recruited for UDub successfully for years. True, other schools in the PAC 10 have come into competition, but there is such a wealth of talent on the coast, there's more than enough for everyone. Washington had some losing years before Ty and it just takes time to build things back up. He'll be alright. Watch the Huskies this year: they will surprise.

G oddamm it. Here we go again with the "ND-Willingham" stuff. What is it with you ND guys? What's the hurt here? Bitterness that he wasn't better? Shame that you drove him off for what you got now? Why cant you drop the subject?
