One of the most sought-after prospects in the NBA Draft just might have become a bit more elusive for the Heat. Former University of Memphis point guard Derrick Rose concluded his predraft workout with the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, and his representatives indicated that there are no plans for Rose to visit Miami before the draft. The Heat favors Rose, a Chicago native who led Memphis to the NCAA championship game. But Rose told reporters in Chicago on Thursday that he wants to play for his hometown team.

I don't blame him but he'd better be ready for the ticket requests.

June 20, 2008  07:54 AM ET

there u have it...i got my tickets ready....now just sign Deng and trade gordon and hinrich for a good low post scorer and the bulls will be hot again

June 20, 2008  08:16 AM ET

of course he wants to be the number one pick. i mean who besides eli manning, danny ferry, and eric lindros doesn't want to be the number one pick?

Tell me somthing I dont know

June 20, 2008  08:45 AM ET

I dont care how good beasly is, chicago would have to be insane not to take him with the first pick. The screwed up on chandler, Curry, they had bad luck with Jay williams injury, marcus fizer lack of anysemblence of an nba game....dont mess this one up chicago

June 20, 2008  08:48 AM ET

It should happen.

The DR is the D house!

June 20, 2008  09:05 AM ET

the heat dont need him they have wade the need beasley and riley knows it riley like bg men who can handle the ball (magic johnson, lamar odom, PJ brown

June 20, 2008  09:08 AM ET

Man ... passing on beasley is a tough decision.

I feel ya Ironmike

rose's skill potential is off the charts. if he has strong willingness to learn and develop his basketball knowledge. i see no reason why he couldn't eventually have the same type of impact as a CP3. even tho chicago is loaded with quality guards.....i always feel like you take the best available talent or trade that pick for proven talent to fill the needs of your team

The Bulls have quality guards but they don't have a true point guard. D-Rose showed that he was the best pure point guard in college b-ball last year in the tourney. I think he will have an immediate impact on this team; but the Bulls need to get rid of one player (Hinrich, Gordon, Nocioni) and get a low-post scorer. Even with all that said: I wouldn't mind them drafting Beasley. The kid is a BEAST!

June 20, 2008  09:42 AM ET

The Bulls NEED Rose.
They don't need Marcus Phizer part deux

June 20, 2008  09:45 AM ET

Don't the bulls need low post offense? Kirk Heinrich was pretty good until last year, new coach might get him back to his former self and the need for PG in Chicago won't be that great. So they should take BEASTLY.

June 20, 2008  09:58 AM ET

How do you not take a player who's had one of the greatest college seasons of all time....How many guards have we seen come and go in the draft that had "POTENTIAL." I think scouts are dwelling on Rose's athletecism (which won't be maximized playing point guard) and not focusing on his lack of shooting ability, and ability to run a half court offense. M. Beasley is the best player in this draft by far and hes going to make the Bulls pay for not selecting him #1. Mark my words....

jgb :D - that was cool
Hope u r wrong though!

June 20, 2008  10:00 AM ET

Beasley is only 6'7. I think he'll put up decent numbers, but this ain't the Big12. Bring in Rose, see ya Ben, and I don't know if there's a low post scorer to be had (I think the Bulls have considerable cap room), but Rose immediately makes hacks like noah and Thomas better because he'll put them in positions where they'll be less likely to force an ugly shot or dribble it of their knees.

June 20, 2008  10:02 AM ET

Rose will be another cp3, who is a fanchise pointguard....the two hardest positions to fill with talent on the court, are the 5 ( true center), and the 1 ( true point ).....you dont pass on a player like rose...potential nothing, hes that good right now, and will only get better.

m3atplow - superb point (pun intended) - no one would pass on a player like Rose;
plus Beasley will not fill their need for low post scorer
