Specter: Spygate controversy not over

Senator Arlen Specter clarified Thursday that his involvement in the New England Patriots' videotaping controversy was not over. Neither is his battle with the N.F.L. "My view on the overall situation is that we may well see the other shoe drop somewhere," Specter said. "We went about as far as we could go, given the public attitude today about the economy and gas prices and Iraq. We're always very careful about initiating a Congressional investigation. But that isn't to say, by any means, it's over."

Hey Arlen ... the horse is dead! Stop beating it!!!

June 20, 2008  06:49 AM ET

Things Congress should investigate before getting into Spygate:

1) Iraq
2) Iraq
3) ...Iraq?

Honestly, this guy wants to investigate someone who defrauded other pro football teams to win a few games. We've got a president who defrauded an entire nation and took us into a multi-trillion dollar war in which our soldiers and Iraqi civilians have died by the thousands. Spygate isn't even nearly as dangerous as steroids in baseball, since that issue posed a public health risk in which kids were shooting up with roids. What's Specter worried about, kids buying camcorders and recording each other? This guy is a joke. I hate the Patriots, but for God's sake Specter, drop it already. How about you try doing your ACTUAL job instead?

"But that isn't to say, by any means, it's over."

Yes it is Arlen. Just give it up and shut up so you can save face. Anyone who can do a little digging knows you were trying to help out your largest contributors by breaking the NFL monopoly on broadcast rights.

Of cousre not

Lord help us if osamabama gets elected.

Let's count our blessings that Hillary lost.

June 20, 2008  07:09 AM ET

BigBlue4You, the problem with your idea is:

1) Even his enemies have dropped the nonsense that Bush committed fraud. His press secretary just wrote a negative book about our President. Even it argued that Bush knowingly misled nobody. The whole BS culture is to blame.

2) Nancy Pelosi and the entire gang of Democrats know that Iraq is not a cool topic for anyone who reads anymore since we are winning so it isn't half as mush fun to blame Bush for lying about a war that may free 20 million people and keep 200 Billion gallons of oil out of the hands of Saddam or equally crazy people who hate us.

3) The anti-war crowd have even disserted the lies about the impact of the war on the dollar, our prestige and all the other neat ideas they had since no reality bears them out. An nobody who is literate is really interested.

Since you are so far out of it I suggest that you get a "No Blood for Oil" sign and go to your nearest gas station and preach to folks filling up their tanks that we should pay a little more for gas to save our shorelines, lives in Iraq, and help the enviromentalists like Obama continue to stop nuclear power, windmills or anything else that keeps us out of a depression. OK?

the other shoe?they had a video shoe to tape things secretly?i want 1

June 20, 2008  07:15 AM ET

BelichickforPresident,

Well said!!!!!!!

June 20, 2008  07:15 AM ET

About the numbers, above:

1) The BS culture in )Washington is the idea of the former press secretary.

2) Oh did I say GALLONS? Barrels like $100 to $200 each, these days. And 200 Billion of them. Bigger than our total national debt by several times. And big enough to make a lot of trouble.

3) McCain and Bush are not innocent on the present high gas prices. But the democrats sure aren't either and they are not even helping now except to offer to spend on research on "pie in the sky" technology which is at best a partial solution right now.

June 20, 2008  07:20 AM ET

I guess this is what people in polatic do when they DON'T STOP THERE STATE FROM GUN.

June 20, 2008  07:23 AM ET

Ethanol is not the answer either. Predictions are that corn will be $15 a bushell. Three to four time it's normal worth. This now means will will still have high gas prices, now a higher grocery bill. Not to mention all of the Conservation Reserve Land in the midwest now getting plowed up.

June 20, 2008  07:34 AM ET

well said Belichick that should help shut some of the raving liberals up....for now

June 20, 2008  07:40 AM ET

There already is a Honda car made for production that runs on hydrogen. All that is missing are the hydrogen stations. The problem is that Americans are so **** stupid that they'd rather bang their head up against the wall and shout 'liberal' and 'conservative' at each other while the oil companies and their cronies in Washington take turns mounting them from behind.

That makes no sense at all. I cant even tell what it means.

June 20, 2008  07:41 AM ET

Unless some damning new evidence suddenly surfaces, this is a dead issue, IMHO.

June 20, 2008  07:44 AM ET

You did everything to make this private war happen. You've done enough damage. This mission is over, Arlen. Do you understand me? This mission is over! Look at them out there! Look at them! It's over Arlen. It's over!

Nothing is over!!! Nothing!!! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win! ...

June 20, 2008  07:46 AM ET

It's over Johnny!

June 20, 2008  07:46 AM ET

You know what is nice about sports? Republicas, democrats, commies, libertarians, etc can come together and root for a single team. We hate fans of other teams because they are just that, fans.

People come to sports to take a break from the BS of the world.

Please don't start ruining sports by bringing politics into it.

Amen sister. Add the stupid idea of using food for pleasure crafts with the Iowa floods and now we have hurt the food supply for our livestock, (the biggest users of corn).
