Let's start this the right way. The SEC sucks.

Let it hit the fan...

Michigan wants a lot of Southern kids and so far RR and his staff are doing a better job of recruiting the South but still hard to get Southern kids to go up to the Tundra of A2 where there really isn't any good bbq or pretty girls like the South has. But...but....but....if RR transforms Michigan into the team that can and will and does beat OSU and starts winning Big 10 championships and significant bowl games, I think it will be easier to lure Southern kids up North.

June 20, 2008  08:50 AM ET

It's about time that Michigan targeted recruits from the South. At least RR is getting it right, there.

June 20, 2008  09:48 AM ET

Biminator should change his name to diminator because he is stupid for saying that the SEC sucks! What team do you pull for bimmy? Are you jealous because the SEC has won the last two national championships? Go cry to your mom because your team sucks!

The Warden: You know I'm a Michigan fan but if Ohio State could get kids from South Florida up to Columbus, why can't Michigan do the same? It's about time that Michigan look south. It's obvious there are great football players down there and Michigan can land their fair share.

June 20, 2008  10:03 AM ET

Yeah before I get killed by some Michigan fan, I know that players like Carlos Brown comes from the South. Georgia to be exact, but they could do better down there. That is all that I am saying.

June 20, 2008  10:18 AM ET

Anyone who knows anything about football knows that the south produces some great players, esp Georgia & Florida, One of the things that has really bummed me out about UofM was that they never really went hard at southern players. Hopefully RR can change all that.
GO BLUE

OMG Michigan!!! They are the best this year!!!! They are going all the way!!!! People only watch the ND-Michigan game because of Michigan!!!! No other program matters!!!!! Ohio St and Notre Dame suck!!!!

See, I can look like a **** to.

June 20, 2008  11:12 AM ET

RR there are better recruits in Utah than in Georgia. :-)

June 20, 2008  11:57 AM ET

Seriously Rick Rod, leave our state alone!!!

June 20, 2008  12:11 PM ET

Go to Clemson. Now.

June 20, 2008  12:43 PM ET

Lattimore, do not go to MI. RR freezes up when it matters most...chokes on the BIG ones. Go anywhere else my friend.

J Hova,

Prior to RR coming in, Carr and Co didn't really recruit Florida that much so they didn't have much a relationship with any High Schools or coaches. They got an occasional player or two every so often but pretty much focused on the Midwest and had some luck in TX with Fred Jackson and limited success with English out in Cali. I think RR will have better success getting kids from the South to come but it won't be easy. It's hard to get any kid from that type of weather to come up to a cold state, especially one as dreary as Michigan. Maybe if Michigan starts to win convincingly and beats OSU, wins Big 10 Championships and significant bowl games, then maybe more kids will want to play for them. Time will tell.

As for OSU, I don't know other than the fact they have had a much more successful program as of late and a better rapport with high schools down there. It could also be a matter of character and grades that Carr wouldn't go after some kids due to grades and character that Tressel and OSU would have.

June 20, 2008  01:02 PM ET

Oh, forgot to mention that one reason why Carr and staff didn't really get too deep with Southern Recruiting is that many coaches and players expect hand out$, if ya know what I mean. Carr wouldn't play that game. We all know that OSU does along with other schools. Hence the role of BOOSTER support.

June 20, 2008  04:06 PM ET

well said warden, give RR some time, GO BLUE!!!!!!!

June 20, 2008  04:16 PM ET

warden are you stating that UGA pays players to come there? the players in the southern states play for SEC teams because they are assured of playing in big bowls and they have a better shot at making it to the NFL! the SEC has the MOST in the NFL!

Wow you are a joke buddy. Do yourself a favor before looking that dumb again and google DT Marques Slocum and tell me how he got into scUM. While your at it, google the Professor who recently got in trouble for giving scUM student athletes free grades. LOL UM is no different, just because a southern kid does not like UM does not mean he gets paid to elsewhere.

I smell sour grapes cry baby excuses.

Tressel 6-1 vs UM

App. State

Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Jake Long 0-4

UM has ONLY 1 NC since 1949, wow and you wonder why they do not want to come there.

June 20, 2008  04:39 PM ET

You should thank YOUR BOOSTERS for paying for nice Land Rovers for pot smoking th*gs like Mario Manningham that you have to pay to leave Ohio. I went to a HS 15 minutes away from Mario's and I can assure you he did not have the money to buy a Land Rover while @UM, but he did have money for the 3 times he got busted for doing drugs while @UM, which by the way LLLLLLoyd covered up very well until this past draft when it came out.

Facts suck huh!?
