Augustin turns heads at workout
I've got one word to sum up Wednesday's predraft workout at the Trail Blazers' practice facility: Wow. Joe Alexander was impressive on Tuesday in displaying exceptional athleticism, leaping ability and raw potential. Russell Westbrook made a strong case to become a Blazer last week when he showed better-than expected shooting ability, versatility and athleticism. But I've been to every one of the Blazers' nine workouts thus far and no prospect has revealed a more polished, NBA-ready game than D.J. Augustin did today.

13 to portland is not unreasonable..........
he's a real nice player- just small.
but if oden is actually a player they can afford to go small at the guard

How arr you not mentioning Gordon in the top guards conversation?
1)Rose
2)Gordon
3)Mayo
4)Bayless
5)Augustin
I don't understand why Westbrook gets all this hype. He really was not that impressive this year. He is a great athlete with potential, but aren't all these guys? I think Gordon, Rose, and Mayo have chances to be legit rookie impact players.

Are we mentioning the top guards or top POINT GUARDS. There is a difference ladies and gentlemen. Top POINT GUARDS:
1. DJ Augustin
2. Jarred Bayless
3. Derrick Rose
4. OJ Mayo
5. Russell Westbrook

I disagree DWITT......
I've watched Gordon-
he is smaller than advertised, chubby (hence the short sleeve shirt) and is not a good defender.....
- obviously he can shoot-
The question then is is he worth a top 10 pick ?
I don't think so.
He reminds me of a bo Kimball..........
The pro game is very different than college- harder to get a shot, harder to drive AND you have to defend

Mayo over Rose?
Really?!?
We have to admit that even if Augustin has raised eyebrows, he still will be picked last among that bunch...
I am not saying he will not be a better player that some of them, just picked later

I would absolutely love it if DJ fell all the way to Portland. I believe that would be the only situation in which the Blazers do not trade the pick.

WOW...Just cause you wear a tee shirt, it does not mean you are chubby. He has a big build. He had 8.2% body fat...Augustin had 8.1%. Gordon wieghs 222lbs...40 inch vertical. I don't care if you look chubby, you can still be one hell of an athlete and bball player. Hardly any analyst mentions Gordon's top shelf athletic ability. Gordon has a the essential tools to be a really good defender(length, quickness, explosion, and leaping ability). It is too hard to judge Gordon based on his IU days, he played with a broken wrist and through all the turmoil. Going into college, he was considered a possible #1 overall draft pick type talent, so the scouts must have seen something. I think he proved himself pretty well based on what he went through this year.
No question he is a top ten talent...just based on potential alone!

Agree with DWITT bout Gordon..but people love to nitpick...I don't think you can go wrong with any of the guard picks in the draft...I honestly feel Mayo is going to be a beast sooner rather than later...just my opinion though

Guys, Portland has Jarett Jack, Steve Blake, Sergio Rodrigquez and not to mention Rudy Fernandez who many have said would be a top ten pick this year...they don't need augustin, take joe Alexander and then let the portland dynasty begin...

The sad reality for the people of the Rose is that all of these guards and Alexander will be gone by number 13. I can't imagine the frustration as the Blazers watch their favorites go 11 and 12 and have to figure out which total wildcard to take with 13. Unlucky?

Irreguardless of who Portland picks, they will be contenders for years to come as long as the pick works out.

As painful as it is to say from northern California, Portland is truly on their way. Go get 'em!
But you won't be doing it with any of these guards, including Augustin. He won't last past Indiana at 11.
Choose from these guys:
Donte Greene
Robin Lopez
DeAndre Jordan
(can't remember which one) Rush
Nicolaus Batum
I say go get Batum. Many good years ahead for the only team standing in the Great Northwest. We reserve the right to be envious.

Hllywood-
Remember you said this when this kid is in talks for ROY and all these big name like Rose and Mayo turn in to over hype premaddonas. Augustin has incredible work ethic and is a slasher, shooter, and disher. 5 11 or not this kid can ball. I would love to have this kid on my team. I think him, Beasly, and Baylees may have the most impact this year as rookies!

portland really needs a PG. im sure they were hoping sergio rodriguez would fill that void, but he couldnt distance himself from jarrett jack and steve blake last year. dj augustin wouldnt be a bad pick at 13. he carried that texas team even further last year than he did with durant freshman year. this guy is focused on developing his skills. he would be a great fit in portland, and even if sergio develops, they'd have an awesome PG tandem like ford/calderon in toronto.

Portland would have to move up to get DJ, but he looks good as a PG. He is short, but Chris Paul is only 6 feet tall and he's pretty successful in the league.
Jarret Jack will be gone before training camp. I hope and I pray.

A six foot PG who can really ball is much better than a 6'5" turn-over machine. Will we ever learn the lessons of Iverson, et al? A ball player is a ball player, and this kid qualifies.
I'm telling you, he won't get past Indy and Sac.
