Chiefs still want Croyle at QB

The quarterback carousel took another spin for the Chiefs on Sunday as they concluded their three-day minicamp. Damon Huard spent most of the practice session working with the starters, following Brodie Croyle on Friday and Trent Green on Saturday. Although the delicate situation regarding Green and his desire to be traded to the Dolphins has forced the odd practice rotation and caused the Chiefs to be cautious about what they say publicly, haven???t swayed from the stance that Croyle will be given every opportunity to win the job.

Denver's D getting bigger.....Cheifs QB getting smaller........sounds good

I agree with the above asssesment if Croyle wins the starting job in KC this team is doomed

June 4, 2007  10:09 AM ET

He's still gotta beat out Huard for the job unless Edwards is just playing a suckers bet

June 4, 2007  10:40 AM ET

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

June 4, 2007  10:42 AM ET

Huard should be the QB. Edwards starting Trent Green at the end of last season was a bonehead move.

June 4, 2007  10:47 AM ET

this story is getting old screw trent green who cares the dolphins suck and the chiefs suck let it be

June 4, 2007  10:50 AM ET

The Chiefs are making a pretty big leap of faith if they think Croyle is ready. He never quite lived up the hype he came into college with, so I'd be a little leery of casting their lot with him after 1 year on the pine.

June 4, 2007  10:57 AM ET

He didn't impress me at all at Bama. They need to lose alot this year to see if they can get Brohm or Woodson.

June 4, 2007  11:06 AM ET

I think they want Croyle back there just for mobility reasons. The line they are going to have this year, they need someone that can scramble. They are going to suck regardless of who is under center.

June 4, 2007  11:32 AM ET

Croyle is going to be a good NFL QB. He has a much better arm than either Green or Huard...plus he's more mobile. He didn't impress you much at Alabama? The guy set tons of school records all while playing with a team that had less talent than most other SEC teams due to probation while he was there. The Chiefs got a steal in Croyle last year in the 3rd round. Yeah, he make take his lumps this year if he starts, but they'll develope a very good QB by the '08 season.

June 4, 2007  12:13 PM ET

Great! Make him the starter. I'm sure Merriman, Phillips, Ohlshansky and Castillo won't have any problem welcoming Brodie to the NFL!

June 4, 2007  12:28 PM ET

croyle, green, printers, it does not matter whos playing qb for the chiefs this season. thay are a 6-10 team, especially in that division. even the lowly raiders will finish ahead of them in the division. yes. the raiders!!

June 4, 2007  01:14 PM ET

Herm Edwards is the most overrated coach in the NFL. Thank God the Jets let him go to KC.

June 4, 2007  01:33 PM ET

"Run Brodie Run." He is going to have to be mobile to survive that sorry offensive line.

June 4, 2007  01:43 PM ET

I say he is there best option at the time. Huard is getting up there in years and they are basically in an offensive re-building period. Might as well put the kid out there and see if something clicks. You never know if the kids is going to be a gamer or not.

June 4, 2007  01:50 PM ET

well he wasn't that good nor big at alabama, hopefully the chiefs know what they are doing, i agree the chargers and broncos aren't the team he want's to play against, sucks the Oline is depleted

June 4, 2007  03:15 PM ET

Nobody is good until they prove it, Huard did well last year, no sense in tossing Croyle to the wolves until you have to. And they may want to invest in that O-line little more or it won't matter who's back there.

June 4, 2007  03:38 PM ET

And I was just thinking how nice it had been not hearing about the K.C. and Trent Green quarterback saga for a few days. If they really don't want him anymore, and will end up having to cut him eventually then why not just take the latest deal from Miami and move on? May not be what they originally wanted, but atleast they'd get something.

June 4, 2007  03:55 PM ET

The offensive line for the chiefs is not good anymore so the chiefs need someone who can scramble and make plays with his legs not just his arm.
