Will Dwyane follow Kobe's lead?

Dwyane Wade could test the Heat. He could demand a trade. Wade doesn't seem the personality type to rant against the Heat in the manner that Kobe Bryant so loudly and so ridiculously ranted against the Lakers last week. But nobody should think for an instant that Wade, who has grown into a league-wide marketing force, would be hesitant to flex his muscle in dealing with the Heat if he thought a power play were necessary.

I would not even put Wade in the catagory with Kobe because Wade is still humble at this point where Kobe's ego is way out there.

June 4, 2007  08:32 AM ET

only at this point my friend.. wait til shaq gets old in another 3 months n i bet the heat aint in any posiiton to make any substantial additions to their current roster.. and wit zo n gp probably nt returnin next year.. whove the heat got thatd lure d-wade ta stay in miami?

June 4, 2007  09:37 AM ET

Why is his even a topic? Wade isn't going anywhere. Who is dumb enough to think there is even a reason Wade would want to go anywhere else? Why would Wade want, need to make a power play? Dumb topic.

June 4, 2007  10:00 AM ET

if every star player wanted a trade because they did not repeat as world champs there would not be a league left , there is a little thing called loyalty that some players still believe in .. thanks for another stupid comment palm beach post.

June 4, 2007  10:09 AM ET

hes not dumb he would never leave Miami cause most teams want kobe and not wade.., hes got shaq for s acouple of years..this off season get some vetern help and use the draft to get people to complement shaq and wade

June 4, 2007  10:17 AM ET

You're right rodecker76, Kobe and D-Wade should not be mentioned in the same breath. KOBE IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE! Not to mention his 3 NBA titles, numerous trips to All Star games, scoring titles, etc....His request last week were not "ridicoulous" as the Kobe hater writer of this article leads you to believe. Every star player does it when they want change. The writer probably believes Kobe is in charge of making his teammates better too. I don't think any player can make Kwame Brown better, make Bynum grown up, or keep Odom of the IL

I'm tired of people talking about how humble certain players are. Most are ***holes, including your percieved humble favorites, to fans off camera. Just watch the game and stop bashing personalities. We don't know these players!

June 4, 2007  10:31 AM ET

Agreed that we do not know players and personalities. I like to think most of them still are people and in private are still people (as opposed to demi-gods).
Now Wade knows he needs Shaq to be effective in order to win. Everybody knows Shaq is not the athlete shotblocker he used to be, or the coast to coast center Orlando came to know. Rest assured Shaq knows, and Riley has talked to him to make sure he knows he needs to be in the best shape of his live coming November, in order to make his point of most dominant big man in the game. Shaq is no fool, certainly PR wise, he will show up in great condition, determined to run and jump the whole season, and finish off the season in June playing a western conference team. Shaq does not want to go out on a low note, he'll go out with a bang and make sure he and his man "flash" gets another shot at the title.

June 4, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Stop HATIN on kobe. Lets talk loyalty with the people that just talk before they know what they are talking about. Kobe Bryant is the most loyal person in the league. Kobe Bryant is the only player in the league that has a no trade clause in his contract, Why? becuase he is the only player in the league to sign a lengthy contract after 8 seasons with the same ballclub. Lets talk about Kobe taking ALL of the criticism from the media about kicking shaq our of town when it was all the Buss family. Kobe was just taking the heat for his organization. I bet thats more than what any of you would do .

June 4, 2007  11:07 AM ET

Although I love when the no talent writers for the palm beach post write artlicles like this. There have been no rumers that DWade is going anywhere. This is just completely made up out of the blue to get some fan reactions. Whoever wrote it is a Kobe Hater tryin to stir up some controversey. It makes me sick that this man gets paid to write articles so he writes "what if" articles. Is Lebron James really giving up basketball to work at McDonalds?. could be the article name. GOOD ONE PALM BEACH

June 4, 2007  11:10 AM ET

Geshem - I bet shaq does not come into great shape for next season. He is gonna avg. about 15 pts/game next year.. Too old, and too big.

June 4, 2007  11:56 AM ET

I dont think this is a Kobe bashing post at all. All the author said was "Is Wade gonna scream on his team PUBLICLY and make demads like Kobe did??" Now, did Kobe, or did he not PUBLICLY criticize his team and demand a trade? I dont know either one of them personally so I could care less, but I know what I heard. And I believe there was a better way for Kobe to handle that situation when you are getting paid that much money.

June 4, 2007  12:07 PM ET

Come on Dwayne, demand that trade!!! Tell the Heat you want to go to the Lakers. OOoohh...I need a cigarette now!

June 4, 2007  12:21 PM ET

Anyone would want Wade you would have to be crazy not to.If you have seen the N.B.A at all you would want wade. He's a great player and he was really injurded.I think it goes KOBE,Wade,Le bron. Le bron could move above Wade if he wins bacause Wade had a much better team when he won. There all great players!I just hope the LAKERS don't let MITCH do anything stupid!

June 4, 2007  12:32 PM ET

How can you possibly put Wade in the same category as Bryant!

June 4, 2007  12:43 PM ET

"Kobe Bryant is the only player in the league that has a no trade clause in his contract, Why? becuase he is the only player in the league to sign a lengthy contract after 8 seasons with the same ballclub."

Kobe may be the only player in the league with a no-trade clause, but that's only because he feels important enough to have one. No one player is more important than the rest of his teammates. Basketball isn't an individual sport. As far as the extension, I think you neglected to mention Kevin Garnett in there. I have the utmost respect for him due to all of the adversity he's faced and never once DEMANDING a trade. That's moral character that Kobe can't match. Period.

June 4, 2007  12:49 PM ET

I dont think Wade will blast the front office on the radio like Kobe did.Plus besides the heat has a way better GM than the lakers so when Shaq ,Morning ,Walker,J Willams,Payton call it quits they will have so much cap room to get more vetran star players.Wade is in a much better position than Kobe.

June 4, 2007  12:53 PM ET

There is no way Wade asks for a trade.

June 4, 2007  01:34 PM ET

A home comming to Chicago would be great!!!

June 4, 2007  02:01 PM ET

Skybill, If something isnt right, you demand changes. You dont just sit back in the same job if you arent going anywhere (or marriage, relationship, etc)?? Sometimes there is a point where you must test your loyalty for the betterment of your future.. thats all kobe did..

AND he wanted to make sure the Lakers were being loyal to him.

Kobe isnt the first player to demand a trade.. you are just a "hater".

KG definitely deserves a statue in Minny for staying in that woe-be-gone franchise for as long as he has. But Kobe had a responsiblity to himself and to the fans of the Lakers to say what he said. This isn't some Minnesota T-Wolves or Memphis Grizzlies or Charlotte Hornets or whoever. This is the Lakers, one of the great franchises in any sport. I'm glad someone in the organization finally said something about this nonsense.
