I can see it now.....LeBron strolling out of the tunnel mid 2nd quarter a la Willis Reed/Derek Fisher (did I really just put Reed and Fisher in the same category lol???) to the roaring Cleveland applause....only question is will they be down 3-1 or tied 2-2 at that point

June 4, 2007  09:51 AM ET

Definitely down 3-1 so it wouldn't make a difference whether he's there or not. He's just setting up an excuse now for losing game 5...I can see it now... Cleveland lost because they were missing their star player". Give it up!

June 4, 2007  10:11 AM ET

he wont miss it im sure his kid can wait for him to win a champoinship

June 4, 2007  10:11 AM ET

He won't miss anything except film of the Spurs' victory parade after game four. This one is an ugly mismatch.

June 4, 2007  10:28 AM ET

It won't matter anyway......
They will be swept by the Spurs!

June 4, 2007  10:28 AM ET

Uhhhh...Indians=World Series...your ID name is more likely than your comment...the baby cannot gestate for the next year or two...it must be born.

Shame on LeBron for saying he will not miss any games for anything. Dude, it is only freaking basketball...your wife (baby momma) could die (or the kid could die) - GOD FORBID! Sensible and reasonable parents-to-be would never miss such an important event.

Spurs fans love Cleveland...but you need a couple more pieces to the puzzle. Add a solid big man and you guys are great...right now you are just really good thanks to your superstar.

June 4, 2007  10:32 AM ET

Cavs Have NO chance of winning a championship THIS YEAR against the Spurs. They will be whipped in 4.

June 4, 2007  10:34 AM ET

which means he'll be rested enough to be by Savana's side.

June 4, 2007  10:44 AM ET

Facetious-I resent your comment about how "sensible and reasonable parents-to-be would never miss such an important event." In my case, I had the option of either going home to see my baby born or staying with my troops because we were in heavy battles every day. I stayed, fought and won with my friends, and made my family proud. In 10 years when my daughter is old enough to understand, I'm sure she'll be eager to here how her dad made a personal sacrifice, stood with his friends, and earned a bronze star in the process.

Surely, the NBA finals and soldiering are not worthy of comparing, but just as I had a valid reason to miss the birth of my daughter, so does Lebron for missing the birth of his child...i.e., the hopes of a city, a ridiculous amount of money he's being paid, history, personal legacy...etc..

Be honest, if I gave you the option of making $10 million dollars (the minumum he'd see in new endorsement deals if they win), establishing a personal legacy that people the world over will know, securing a place in history, and the chance of uplifting an entire city, would you choose that, or would you make the hard personal sacrifice (I'm being facetious) and witness the birth of your child?

After you answer that question, think of all the soldiers who are missing the birth of their children for just the simple reason of pride and nothing else.

June 4, 2007  11:09 AM ET

yea. that should make for a 45 pt, 12 reb, 10 assist game.

June 4, 2007  12:10 PM ET

Kind of sad that the story doesn't read "LeBron James' wife..."

June 4, 2007  12:51 PM ET

He said on espn he will not miss any games because he was present at his first childs birth.

June 4, 2007  01:01 PM ET

Hey babyblue22 the Cavs beat the spurs twice this year by a impressive margin of victory.Even though it was the regular season those two games exposed some match up problems for the spurs.Parker will have to guard Larry hues which was the x factor in the two wins. And James destroyed Bowen look for this series to go down to all seven games. Two regular season wins will boost the Cavs confidence against the spurs .The same thing with Golden state when they beat dallas they beat dallas all four times they played them so that will give them a slight edge.

June 4, 2007  01:03 PM ET

Somehow I think his Baby Mama won't mind if LeBron misses the birth.

June 4, 2007  01:06 PM ET

She wont mind him not being there hey its the Finals.

June 4, 2007  01:06 PM ET

Black: You lumped in fighting for your country with playing a basketball game, and then cited frivolous things like money and fan adoration. Soldiers are the polar opposite of basketball players. Your situation was ENTIRELY different, and YOU made the right decision...I hope LBJ does too given his "situation."

The battle your fellow soldiers needed you for will not be there next week , next year, or next decade...the NBA and LeBron's career will. Give me an effing break. I doubt LeBron's endorsement deals will dry up in my lifetime. If he skips the birth of a child for a basketball game, then he is a superficial non-family man...not a reputation I would want. False idolization over witnessing the birth of human life you contributed to? Easy choice no matter how much money is at stake.

BTW, thanks for the sacrifice Black. You and your fellow soldiers are the real heroes.

June 4, 2007  01:07 PM ET

Spurs in 5...maybe 6. END OF STORY!

June 4, 2007  01:33 PM ET

It's some real small minded people out here! mother or wife. He has to be the father. It's not a about him or her at this point. It's all about the child to be! a gift from God. Obivously it's his choice if he miss the birth, he has to be the man to explain to the Mother why,if she understand then she is what you small minded people called her (Baby mamma). Lay your **** down, have a child! I will make sure i label you that why!! with all that said spurs in 4 or 5!! The Ref can't help cleveland in this one.

June 4, 2007  01:44 PM ET

This is a mute point... there will be no game 5 anyway.

June 4, 2007  01:47 PM ET

WITH RESPECT TO BLACK...I UNDERSTAND AND RESPECT YOUR DECISION AND THANK YOU AS WELL FOR YOUR SACRIFICE. BUT I ALSO LIVE BY THE SAYING..."TO EACH IS OWN". PERSONALLY, I WOULDN'T WANT TO MISS MY CHILDS BIRTH. BUT IF THATS HOW LEBRON FEELS, THEN RESPECT. AS LONG AS HE AND HIS GIRL HAVE THAT UNDERSTANDING THEN IT'S ALL LOVE. I'M JUST SAYING...I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR LEBRONS SITUATION. JUST AN OPINON. HE HAS TO LIVE WITH WHATEVER PATH HE CHOOSES. LIKE I SAID...TO EACH IS OWN. PEACE
