Antonio Henton will transfer from Ohio State to Georgia Southern and be immediately eligible for the 2008 season, a source close to the process has told the Journal-Constitution. The official announcement of Henton's transfer is expected to be made on Monday. Henton is a redshirt sophomore who was competing for the No. 2 position behind starter Todd Boeckman, who led the Buckeyes to the BCS championship game in 2007. Ohio State also signed quarterback Tyrelle Pryor, the nation's No.1 high school prospect, in February. Henton is the second quarterback to transfer from Ohio State since Pryor signed. In January Rob Schoenhoft left for Delaware.

Can somebody tell me the name of ANY Ohio State QB who had a career in the NFL?

June 21, 2008  10:05 AM ET

Can you call Bobby Hoying's benchwarming a career?

June 21, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Hey now, stop picking the Buckeyes. This stuff happens when a big time recruit comes in and other players at the position see the writing on the wall. Henton wants to play and he knows it is not going to be at Ohio State. Buckseyes just better hope Boeckman stays healthy and doesn't have a Henne filled Senior year because as good as TP is, he's not college ball ready, yet. Actually, it would be quite amusing to see OSU go thru what Michigan went thru last year. A dose of reality for the Bucks is always a good thing!

Oh, and congrats to the buckeyes for landing Duron Carter, not that that is a surprise.

June 21, 2008  10:20 AM ET

good luck mr. henton... this is sad..i feel bad for this dude. i

warden the buckeyes havent landed carter yet...

June 21, 2008  10:23 AM ET

Uh 4vrRoyal, he gave his verbal to Tre$$el yesterday and then demanded his initial payment of $500 in rolls of quarters. Granted it's not a LOI but he's on record as giving his verbal. Look it up on Scout or Rivals.

June 21, 2008  10:38 AM ET

I doubt he would have beat out Pryor for the second spot on the depth chart. You can't blame him for wanting to go elsewhere for a shot to play.

Tressel looks straight out of a barbershop quartet

June 21, 2008  12:27 PM ET

I'll take Statesboro over Columbus any day of the week..probably has a better chance to beat an SEC team at Southern as they host a Vanderbilt or South Carolina.

June 21, 2008  01:23 PM ET

Warden, I don't know why you spell Tressel with $$. It seems to me that it was Michigan who had the final four that never happened. Michigan was paying the fab five more $ than the faculty. You and I both know that the systems aren't perfect, but we both also know that if the players really wanted to get paid they would be going to U$C.

watch out for michigan next year
look at the prospects we have so far
we have 2 5 stars in willian campbell(dt) and kevin newsome(mobile qb perfect for RR)
weve got four 4 star prospects coming in justin turner(s), shavodrick beaver(qb/wr), bryce mcneal(wr) and teric jones(rb)
and 4 more 3 star recruits
michigan is on lists for high players such as rueben randle, marcus hall, david oku, jammal berry, darius winston, dre kirkpatrick, chris watt, keenan grahm, antwon lowry, corey adams, corey brown, travis hawkins and tons and tons more
also u should watch out for sam mcguffie, he is goin to be michigans noel devine

Well, well, well. Looks like some fall out from Mr. Everything (Pryor) choosing Bucknut U. Lets see a Bucknut QB in the NFL, does Ol' Art S. (Mr. Gambler) ring a bell? Gee, someone left OSU on Mr. Vest's watch, how dare he! I maintain Michigan will start to see dividends in the "10" season, it will take a full two years to get everyone comfortable with RR's system.God do I miss Bo & Woody!!!!!!

June 21, 2008  05:49 PM ET

Honestly anyone with half a brain would transfer. The guy was going to be the odd man out and wanted to start right away to better his odds of getting a big payday from the NFL. I for one commend the young man for having the intelect to know when to leave. He will be able to start immeadiately and that will be good for him and the school that he is going to. It's a win for both teams as OSU now has another scolarship slot vacant and usable on another position.

I would almost say this would havve happened even without Pryors arrival since Todd Boeckman was set to start yet anbother season and Antonio Henton felt he was ready to start now.

I wish both teams well as neither plays my USF Bulls.

June 21, 2008  05:52 PM ET

Is he trying to raise one eyebrow like The Rock? Uh, No, Jim Tressel, we can not smell what you are cooking.

June 21, 2008  06:33 PM ET

Ah, there it is! Is it now an official law of physics that every college football recruitment thread has to have a USC reference?

June 21, 2008  06:42 PM ET

WARDEN: Come on - aren't you above that? (spelling Tressel with two $ symbol for the 's' ) ??? Most Michigan fans have more class than to foolishly make a feeble attempt to assert some kind of connection with Tressel paying players or some complete BS. You have no proof of that. Your like the "drive-by" media, just making up stories, without any proof. Unproffesional.
But, from your perspective, you are probably so dumbfounded and perplexed as to WHY OHIO STATE HAS KICKED MICHIGAN'S **** since Tressel arrived at THE O.S.U. , that you can't come up with anything better. How about better players, better teamwork, and a better athletic departement and support system. Who wouldn't want to go to OSU, especially with a GREAT GUY like Jim Tressel as the coach. It's no wonder, all of the great blue-chippers want to play for a real gentleman, not that phony snake-oil salesman RR.

June 21, 2008  06:44 PM ET

B_BALL-STAR: Marcus Hall and Jamaal Berry have OSU as their clear-cut favorites as of now, Watt could be a Buckeye too. Nice try UM, but you're still far behind in talent.

June 21, 2008  10:16 PM ET

Yes, Let's hope Boeckman stays healthy. As excited as I am to have Pryor, he's going to need some time for the adjustment from high school to college ball. Hopefully we'll have a season full of W's and he'll get a chance to get in the pocket a few times without the game on the line.

I wish Henton the best of luck at Georgia Southern. From what I have heard he is a fairly talented QB who deserves a chance to play. There just simply wasn't enough room for him to get that chance at OSU. Boeckman will be leading the squad this year with Joe Bauserman as his likely backup. Pryor will likely see some limited playing time in special situations the way that Tebow did his freshman year before taking over the squad next year. There just wouldn't be any room for Henton to play without some sort of serious injury or someone becoming ineligible for some reason.
Best of Luck Mr. Henton in your future. Sorry there wasn't any room for you to play at OSU.
