Carmelo Anthony's agent will be in Denver on Monday seeking to get assurance from the Nuggets the star forward won't be traded, a source told the Rocky Mountain News on Saturday. The source said Calvin Andrews will meet with Nuggets brass, and that Andrews is optimistic he will come away with an assurance his client won't be dealt. The source said Anthony won't be at the meeting. Citing unnamed sources, ESPN.com reported Saturday that Anthony has grown tired of hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors, and he initiated a Monday meeting between his representatives and Nuggets management. ESPN.com reported Anthony wants to stay in Denver, but needs an assurance or else he will ask to be traded.

"Anthony has grown tired of hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors, and he initiated a Monday meeting between his representatives and Nuggets management"

First of all- where doe DEMANDS come from.....
the Rocky mountain news sounds like the NY Post......making things up as it goes along

But secondly- F carmelo.
you are a PLAYER. There would be no trade talks if you played DEFENSE
If you can't handle the Denver media......
maybe you should find another profession

Karl said they would look at any and all trade offers, sounds like he's tired of Melo's immaturity!

What is the purpose of those socks some of these guys wear on their arms? Not trying to be funny, I really don't know.

June 22, 2008  09:03 AM ET

...wait a minute. let me get this straight. car-ME-lo doesnt want to be traded, and if the nuggets dont promise not to, then he will demand a trade?!? looks like the sucker-punching pouty crybaby is making no sense once again....

June 22, 2008  09:08 AM ET

Those "Socks" are to keep the arms or legs warm I believe. I'm sure it's just a fasion statement these days. Carmelo doesn't want to be traded cuz he can get his medical marijuana in denver. trust me.

Those socks on the arms are to hide the lack of muscle definition and therefore to hide how out of shape these guys are!

June 22, 2008  09:22 AM ET

after reading your comment and looking at the picture again, i couldnt agree more, ALL ABOUT LIFE & SPORTS! llok at those toothpicks...no wonder he cant play defense.....

June 22, 2008  09:28 AM ET

I'm really not a Carmelo fan, but it seems to me that he deserves to know what the teams intentions are where he's concerned. I think the trade rumor with Detroit would have been a good one, but he still deserves to know.

June 22, 2008  09:29 AM ET

If they aren't planning to trade him, then why keep it a secret?

June 22, 2008  09:39 AM ET

he probably could have gone about it differently himself. he's the employee here. have his agent come out in the paper and say what you just said, Hllywd - we deserve to be informed. us old-schoolers would sympathize with him more. instead, his ways alienate us. arMElo just doesnt care about appearances, only about himself. he probably gets my blood boiling more than most other selfish types because he may have more talent, and thus to me is a bigger waste.....

June 22, 2008  09:43 AM ET

...and billups-prince for anthony sounds like a good deal for both clubs. the nuggets will never trade him cause they feel they have to get kobe or lebron type compensation for him, and hes just not worth it....

Team should trade player and keep sock. Always good to have blue sock handy for prom night.

Headband would be bonus!

June 22, 2008  11:17 AM ET

I can't stand this guy.

June 22, 2008  11:17 AM ET

"...Anthony has grown tired of hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors,.."

It's been so stressful for Melo that he has decided to get more tattoos, and rather than paying for them, Melo punch the tattoo artist in from behind and then ran away.

Dear Melo

Tatoos won't make you hard.

Signed

Eddy Curry

He can demand until he's [powder] blue in the face. The Nuggets are the employer and should do what's best for the business. When I was an employee, making a whole lot less buckaroos than Carmelo, I had no say in my future with any company that I was fortunate enough to be drawing an income from.

He should just be patient, accept his millions and hope for the best. It's not likely the Nuggets are going to get him a ring in the near future anyway.

I think I'd wear a white arm sock and headband instead of that 1970's powder blue!
