Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones confirmed that he no longer wants to be known as "Pacman," the nickname he's had since he was an infant. "There's really just a lot of negativity behind it," Jones said Saturday. "It's just time for a change, man. I'm doing everything to make sure that I'm all right as a person mentally and emotionally. "I'm not saying that my teammates won't call me Pacman on the field, but for the most part, I want to be Adam or Mr. Jones."

Mr Jones ... ? As in "Will the defendent, Mr Jones, please rise"?

June 22, 2008  08:32 AM ET

This might be a small step toward changing himself, or just something for show to give Goodell a reason to reinstate him. Only time will tell.

This guy is such a fake. Mr. Jones, needed to show some loyalty to the Titans for sticking by his ignorant butt. Then all he can say is how much he wants to play for the Cowboys! Titans have had just as much success the last couple of years, and they're still young, so it's Pacman's loss. See how far the Boys go when Parcels' momentum runs out!

June 22, 2008  09:05 AM ET

Instead of Pacman, how about "Inmate 37465"?

June 22, 2008  09:07 AM ET

This could (could being the key term here) be an indicator that Adam Jones is finally starting to understand he must make about-face changes if he wants to have a chance at redemption with the NFL and fans. If someone wants to make he necessary changes, than we should to some degree welcome this. We'll see. It's a start.
Don't forget, America gives EVERYONE a second chance. Look who's in the White House for nearly 8 years now and has done far more harm to human beings globally than Adam Jones.

I feel sorry for Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles who must get constant reminders he shares the same name as this thug

June 22, 2008  09:20 AM ET

""It's just time for a change, man."

umm, that time was a few years ago, man.

June 22, 2008  09:39 AM ET

next he'll be wanting to be called by a symbol rather than a name.. would a middle digit work instead?

June 22, 2008  09:53 AM ET

How about Mr. I-am-a-violent-criminal-please-dont-reinstate-me-for-the-good-of-the-leagu e-and-its-fans.

Or how about we call you whatever we want since youre a PoS.

June 22, 2008  09:55 AM ET

And Hey, east coast kieth....Pacman already had a second chance...and a third.

he deserves to have an elephant sit on his head...thats what he deserves.

June 22, 2008  10:06 AM ET

stop being involved in murders and youll lose the namesake that means you eat people.

June 22, 2008  10:24 AM ET

No Keith, not everyone deserves a second chance. Sometimes you forfeit that right when you screw up several times and people get hurt. And I would much rather have a president who does something instead of a cheese eating surrender monkey like that Carter ahole!

June 22, 2008  10:26 AM ET

I guess he's tired of being chased by ghosts

June 22, 2008  10:28 AM ET

You guys are being so negative. Give the guy a second chance, and with it, a second name.

Here's to Adam "****" Jones.

June 22, 2008  10:34 AM ET

how bout bubba's ****.... that should work in the clink

June 22, 2008  10:39 AM ET

I always assumed his birth name was Pacman. Adam does not have the same ring to it.

June 22, 2008  10:42 AM ET
