Good riddance! He was terrible. And with the backs we have now and the ones already committed he would never touch the ball again. Enjoy the unwanted leftovers, memphis.

Missed, he will not be.

Okay "LoyalBuckeye" you talk like ya'll whooped our a** or something. To my recollection it was an overtime with a BLOWN call and a horrible injury to our star RB.
Anyway, good riddance to Charlie Jones. He saw all those young and talented guys behind him or for the most part, in front of him and decided he couldn't take the heat. His most productive year was 2005 with 123 carries for 507 yds - WHO CARES!

First off, the game in '02 should have never gone to OT. Ohio State should've won in regulation, no thanks to the officials.

Secondly, it remains to be seen if Shannon can keep Florida recruits from going to Gainesville, or Tallahassee, or even Columbus and A-squared, for that matter.

Ohio State is pulling players out of Florida like never before for some strange reason. OSU in the past didn't recruit much out of Ohio, but is have tremendous success since the arrival of Tressel.

I look forward to the game with Miami, and give the AD for scheduling it, as teams from the SEC don't come out of the South for OOC games.

June 23, 2008  11:42 AM ET

I meant "i give credit" to the Miami AD for scheduling OSU.

June 23, 2008  12:01 PM ET

Miami was a 16pt favorite in the bs championship game. Everyone gave OSU no chance and they got lucky. The referee that was directly on top of that pass called it incomplete game over. The referee that was in the opposite corner of the endzone threw his flag like a mile away from the play. Someone important must of had big bucks on that one.....and to the topic. If I was Charlie Jones with one year of eligibility and was the third string back i'd transfer to a school where I had a chance to play too. This is obviously no biggie for the Canes.

June 23, 2008  12:32 PM ET

Good luck to them.

June 23, 2008  04:50 PM ET

well ohio state fans are hilarious. One win over miami in a game 6 years ago and they still talk ****. sounds like an old **** alabama fan still high off of bear bryant, get the **** over yourselves. maybe this year Georgia will be the 3rd SEC team to straight own OSU in a national title game.

June 23, 2008  05:16 PM ET

"a*s handed to us in 02." BAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! that's hilarious. You p;ayed a HECK of a game, dont get me wrong (played the best you were capable of) but we were still SO MUCH better than you that we clawed back on an off night, forced OT, then won the game.... as written above, the ref on the spot singled incomplete, it took a guy from across the field 4secs to throw the flag, time enough for orange and green streamers to shoot onto the field... the entire nation knows that was a blown call, and without it you have no win. You just dont hear us cry about it much down here (except when provoked) because we should never have let your comparatively mediocre squad even IN the game, much less up that much. So I take my hat off to you for doing that. but "handed us our a*s"? Cmon now, guy, get real.

As to Shannon keeping recruits in South Florida. He's only had one true recruiting season, do you follow college recruiting at all, bro?!?!? Must not. He's DOMINANTED SoFla this year (bringing in arguably the nation's top class) and already has a bunch of 09 commitments.

The U will be back dominating the college football landscape very soon, just like we have been for over 25 years now. Coker couldnt recruit worth a darn (see: rode Butch's coat tails to two straight championships, er, one and one stolen from us) and we fixed that problem exponentially with Shannon. Recruiting won't be an issue at all, we'll be back to putting more first rounders year in and year out into the draft just like we always do.

Fear The U!

Refs fixed the game?? so anyways back to the point about the blown call against OSU where the reciever was called out of bounds even though he was clearly in bounds by almost a yard and then OSU was forced to punt instead of running out the clock that allowed Miami to have the big punt return to set up the tie to force overtime.
