Lynch to plead guilty in hit-and-run

Bills running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to plead guilty next week to an unspecified charge stemming from a hit-and-run accident involving his SUV, Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark said. Clark declined to detail the charge but said a tentative plea agreement assumes Lynch was driving his 2008 Porsche Cayenne when it hit a woman crossing a Buffalo intersection early May 31, leaving the victim with a bruised hip and in need of stitches. There was one other person in the SUV at the time, Clark said. He would not say who it was. The announcement of an "agreement in principle" between lawyers came as a grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing testimony in the case. Several Bills players and front-office employees were subpoenaed by investigators frustrated by Lynch's refusal to speak with them. The prosecutor said he does not fault Lynch for exercising his right to stay silent, but acknowledged that his office and the Buffalo police could have used the nearly three weeks spent on the headline-grabbing Lynch case on more serious crimes.

Gee if this was any of us non-professional athletes we would be purchasing some rope on a string right now

"This, at its worst, is a vehicle and traffic misdemeanor. In the hierarchy of criminal conduct, this is certainly in the bottom third,"

I wonder if the woman who got hit by his SUV feels the same way? Did not know running into someone with your vehicle was the same as driving with your seat belt off??? Got to wonder how the NFL will treat the "misdemeanor."

Yet another PoS who should never ever play a professional sport again.

Amazing how few fine upstanding citizens are produced from all the wealth Pro Sports gives the players....

All that money and all they can do is spray champagne around at strip clubs, get drunk, hit people with cars...

Commisioner needs to suspend Lynch and the player with him for at least half the season, this is getting out of hand. You wanted to keep silent, here's your chance.

June 22, 2008  10:32 AM ET

Probably drunk at the time, and thats why he left the scene.

I am a big believer in the thought that the punishment should fit the crime. Put his dumb **** in an old Pinto, pull it to a Wal Mart parking lot, and let some crazy **** in an old pick-up plow into this stupid basstard. Whatever injuries occur is retribution.

He should have done this earlier. It's sad that it took pressuring his bosses before he would admit it.

Got to wonder if the woman got up with dollar signs in her eyes once she realized who had hit her. Laying bets on how much she sues for. I say 2.5 million for undue pain and humilation plus another 500,000 for his negligence.

Speed kills.

he couldn't have done it, he has such an honest face.

Just another example of an athlete doing anything he wants and not taking respnsiblity for his actions. Way to step up and me a man Lynch

Plead guilty=automatic NFL suspension. There is another 4 guaranteed losses for the Bills. Ouchy.

Hooah05!! ..Yes, I thought of that too She is about to get a big undisclosed payday I suspect. To say nothing of " loss of services " her significant other has had to endure ( love that one when I read it all the time-and they thought Spitzer was paying big bucks for it). lol

I wonder how God-ell will handle this. This guy could have killed someone and leaves the scene. If God-ell is really serious about cleaning up the league, he should be suspended for several games.

June 22, 2008  02:08 PM ET

And what do so many coaches say to justify spending big bucks on high school sports while the classrooms fall apart? "Sports builds character."

June 22, 2008  02:20 PM ET

So, a woman was Lynch'd in a Buffalo intersection? Was it racial?
