The Cardinals are projecting lefthander Mark Mulder for a start in next weekend's series against the Kansas City Royals, pending a successful "light" outing tonight with Class AAA Memphis.Manager Tony La Russa and pitching coach Dave Duncan insisted Sunday that a "good chance" exists for Mulder to make his first major-league start since being sidelined last August with shoulder discomfort that led to a second rotator cuff operation. Mulder is on a rehab assignment that included a difficult outing Thursday against Albuquerque.

3 weeks ago he said was finished for good. Doesn't matter b/c Mr. Glass will make one start and leave after 3 innings with soreness then proceed to the DL where he will remain for the rest of his career and hang out with Mike Hampton.

I agree, it's funny how the reports have gone on Mulder this year. They are back and forth. One week he looks like a Cy Young winner and is ready to return to the rotation.....the next week his career is over....then he's back on schedule. I wish the best for him, but I'll believe it when I see it at this point.

Doesn't matter. When will Pujols be back? He's the Cardinals' franchise right now.

Chicken, FMSD - put forth one bit of legitimate evidence that Albert has juiced, and I'll listen to your ridiculous theories......until then.......stop trashing one of the greats.

Lets start with the abrupt deterioration of his body

U.S. Government hit the nail on the head....Mulder = Mike Hampton.

Can anyone present some before and after pictures on Pujols? Because I've watched every Cards game for the last 20 years and I think Pujols has looked pretty much the same from 2001-2008. If you want to argue that he's not 28 years old, I think there may be a tad bit more legitimacy to that.

You want to talk 'roids... how about Mark DeRosa?

June 23, 2008  11:04 AM ET

This is either the FIRST or second time he's ever gone on the DL. I think you're mistaking an injury (which short of Cal Ripken happens to all ballplayers at some point) with "abrupt deterioration".

He's a 'Roider

Bloody, et al:

Here's a few pics of Pujols through the years uploaded onto Shutterfly.

I tried to find ones where he is in approximately the same pose and ones where you can see his forearms since that seems to be the indicator of 'roid use in his case. Personally, I don't see enough of a difference over 7+ years in the majors to justify an accusation.

If anything, Pujols is a shining light of purity in a game of steroid use. There is no reason to believe he used steroids except that he is GOOD, and ya know, there are PLENTY of good players who haven't taken steroids.

And about Ankiel (since he's in my picture) he took them PRESCRIBED by a doctor for health recovery before it was even against the rules. Although he did take steroids, they weren't for cheating, they were for medical purposes. A LOT of people take them for medical purposes, both in and out of sports.

FMSD - were Bonds and Clemens mentioned throughout the Mitchell report....YES. Was Albert mentioned? NO You are merely speculating on a guy with power that you evidently do not like. Until there is evidence it is mere speculation by the uninformed.

bd's earlier comment was right.....there isn't enough to justify an accusation....and again....there is no evidence other than speculation. Albert was not mentioned in the Mitchell Report, and although that obviously is not a guarantee of innocence, that fact alone deserves him the benefit of the doubt in the absensce of any other evidence.
