The radio host Don Imus, fired by CBS last year for referring to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos," waded into racially treacherous waters again on his new radio program Monday morning, in a brief exchange about a suspended professional football player, Adam Jones. When told by the program's sportscaster, Warner Wolf, that Mr. Jones no longer wished to be called by his nickname, Pacman, so that people might forget his record of multiple arrests, Mr. Imus asked, "What color is he?" "He's African-American," Mr. Wolf responded. "Well, there you go,?" Mr. Imus said. "Now we know." Asked in an e-mail message what he had intended by his remark, Mr. Imus wrote, "I meant he was being picked on because he's black." He added that the veteran black comedian and activist Dick Gregory would be a guest on his show on Tuesday, to discuss the death of George Carlin. "We'll see what he thinks," Mr. Imus wrote. "I mean ... come on!"

Imus is an idiot, but so is a lot of other people. Pacman is a troublemaker and see where it has gotten him, Why is it that someone gets into trouble? They are looking for it. That is why and that is the only reason why. Imus and his nappy-headed comment....sure it was bad and off the mark. Apparently he came accross the bad attitudes of some people and he was offened himself prior to his dumping on someone and someother group of peoples. What a shame. There is always...cause and reaction. Society is to blame. The 60's were over along time ago......get over it. Please.

I just wonder why people still listen to Imus?

now Sharpton will come out guns a blazing. just what we needed more of. people want to hear controversy and when they get it they are spitting mad. Old guys like that just don't change overnight. they grew up in a diffrent time and don't understand the world of today. he is like a crusty old grandpa you just take him with a grain of salt and realize you won't have to hear him too much longer.

Imus should seek immediate treatment for "foot in mouth" disease! It is curable if treated early otherwise, it will prove lethal to ones career! Apparently Imus ha been suffering from this disease for a long time and there is little hope of recovery!

BTW, Imus' explanation is bogus. The only reason he gave it is because he got caught with his pants down ....... again!

June 24, 2008  07:41 AM ET

This is AMERICA! I thought we have "Freedom of Speech" ?!

Whether his comments are true or not, he should be aloud to say what he wants! That's what AMERICA is all about!

How come Jackson & Sharpton can say whatever the **** they want about white peolple and how were all "Racist" & holding the blacks down, but sum1 thats white says something about a brotha & all hell breaks loose ......?

June 24, 2008  07:47 AM ET

In my country, we do not have free dumb speech. In America, free dumb speech is everywhere I go. But sometime, and I cannot know why yet, it is not always free and it cost you plenty, especially if you make free dumb speech about group of people that buy things. Thank goodness there are women to violate.
