this guy pulled a Shilling type move this year 4 years in a row. Bravo for being the most useless person in sports. coming from Hard Hittin New Britain which is sort of funny because its the home of Stanley Tools, tool capital of the world back in the old days. Tool is a perfect description of what this guy has been the last 4 years.

one of the biggest all-time dissappointments in baseball history. i laugh whenever i hear anything about a return to the mound for this guy.

Perfect. Bring him back in August. Let him pitch 4 innings. Sign him to a 6 yr extension.... sign Giambi and Ponson to extensions too.

I dont think you can put Giambi and Pavano in the same comment. Giambi may not be great (although he is playing the field ad hitting pretty well), but at least he plays hard. He seems to always care and his teammates love him. I wouldn't be surprised if Pavano finds a rat in his locker when he returns (IF he returns).

oh it has nothing to do with work ethic or effort. Giambi, like you said, may not be great, but he gives it his all.. I'm just trying to think of what will "probably" happen in the offseason.

In other news, pigs may fly soon, and the check is in the mail, and I promise I won't....

My guess this off-season: They try to Texieira, but likely end up with Giambi in a one year deal (which he will take). Abreu is 50/50. Shoud probably look for a pitcher or two (Sabathia, Garland). With Hughes hurt again, he wont likely start next season with the team. Kennedy can be trade bait. Farnsworth is OUT. I'd love to see what a couple of their young pitchers can do from Triple A. (Horne, Sanchez if he ever gets healthy), and Brackman.

I'd say that sounds about right. I'm with you, i'd like to see the younger pitchers too.. If the brass did want to make any kind of big off season deals, I can only hope it's for pitching.

Pavano is the worst free agent signing in the history of baseball!

Not to worry Yanks fans, he will stub his toe in the shower or some such crap. He soils the Yankee name by just wearing the pinstripes.
Imagine if he comes back and does well, or even does well in the playoffs, arg. I would never forgive the organization for allowing this guy to redeem himself at all.
But that won't happen anyway, he sucked when he was healthy, in NY anyway.

And yes, he is the worst FA signing ever, perhaps the worst signing ever, but that speaks to his character and not the organization's scouting. Who knew, who should have known. "Stay out of the Yankee uniform ya waste."
