Sources say the Knicks (Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph), Pacers (Jermaine O'Neal) and Suns (Boris Diaw) have had some casual conversation with the Raptors concerning T.J. Ford.

I wouldn't deal too much away for him. He's one good bump from medically retiring.

June 24, 2008  06:53 AM ET

every player here listed is a major risk and have severe weaknesses to their game

if these players contracts were reasonable (not inflated ) they wouldnt be bagged so much

June 24, 2008  07:06 AM ET

Ford's best scenario is getting to NY, while the Raptors are arguably better of with Diaw (they need a facilitator for the offense)...

June 24, 2008  07:15 AM ET

yeah chasing him with an ambulance.

June 24, 2008  07:33 AM ET

Please no Curry or Randolph. Those two are just slugs. Selfish and lazy slugs. Jermaine O'Neal's knee is shot. The only one that makes sense is Diaw.

June 24, 2008  07:39 AM ET

No offense, but again here goes Pat Riley's inactivity just like last season's offseason. Unless we get Rose, which I think Chicago picking him is a forgone conclusion, Riley should be in constant contact, trying to to find a way to acquire a good point guard. I hope if he's not talking, its because he's going after baron davis.

For the TJ haters, all TJ does is win. His high school has not done anything since he left, he put Texas on the map, The Bucks have not made the playoffs since he left, and Toronto was considered an afterthought after the Carter trade, but TJ led them to the playoffs. The guy is a proven winner. Any team that is looking to win would be grateful to have his services because all he does is win.

June 24, 2008  08:00 AM ET

the knicks desperately need a lot of things but i think PG guard is at the forefront. this guy would be a decent fill into that role assuming he could last a full nba season.

June 24, 2008  08:30 AM ET

EReed, wow, that's funny. TJ has to win something to be classified a winner - even in your post, pointing out how much of a winner he is, you didn't name a single thing he has won. And to say he led them to the playoffs... I seem to recall a player named Bosh who deserves the leadership credit on that team. The main reason the Raptors want to trade him is becuase Calderon is a better leader, and a better point guard.

As for dealing TJ, I don't like any of those players - even Diaw doesn't seem the right fit. If the Raps could get Maggette or Barbosa, who are both apparently available, that would be much better. Even if they had to throw in Parker...

June 24, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Not sure about Fords contract.......
but I AM sure that if we can dump the fat boys.....without picking up a LONG term deal- it would be a MAJOR coup for Walsh

as Reed said above....Ford - although has issues (size/shooting)
CAN RUN....in D'A's offense- he'd be okay

June 24, 2008  08:58 AM ET

It would be a great deal for Walsh if he can get rid of Eddy Curry's contract and get Ford.

June 24, 2008  09:41 AM ET

NOTB if you are really a basketball fan, you would note that before TJ got there in Toronto, Bosh could not get them into the playoffs. No he hasn't won big, but a lot of players have not won big. One thing I can say is that every year he has played, his teams has made the post season. Before this season KG was not a winner, Melo is not a winner, T-Mac, even though I think he's one of the best when he puts his mind to it, has not won, the list goes on, Agent Zero, Howard, Baron had one surprise year, Vince Carter, Jamison. Once you get to the post season, anything can happen. The only knock on TJ is that he's had injuries. If Horford runs into anybody like that, they would come away hurt as well. Besides the Suns, the other teams that are in the hunt for TJ are trying to make the playoffs. Since he has a track record of leading teams to the playoffs, then make a move for him. In the playoffs, anything can happen.

You're half right. The Knicks need a lot of things, but a point guard is among the last of them. Who's he suppose to dish to? Curry? Randolph? The Knicks need to start now trying to replace that soft front line. I agree with Cheesy Texan. Ford is one bump away from retirement.

NOTB...winner or not..."Three Teams Chasing TJ Ford" means he has some major value somewhere.

yes, i know we both know that the knicks are in need of a lot and i know how you typically believe(as do i) that nba success is started with a legit big. looking at the roster i feel like as suspect as the knicks bigs are they do have them. when i look at the knicks guard position they do not seem to have a true facilitator or a true PG which is needed in d'antoni's offense. starbury is shoot 1st pg whose best days are behind him and well nate rob. can barely see over any his opposing guards shoulders. so no matter how good of a lowpost game you have if you have no one to feed them then you are in for a long season.

June 24, 2008  10:36 AM ET

"We three teams of the NBA are, chasing T.J. we've traveled soo far - he's fast as lightning, his moves are frightening, maybe he'll be our star OHHHH -OHHHH" !!! Sung to the Xmas Song "We Three Kings"

June 24, 2008  10:37 AM ET

No way Colangelo makes a deal like that. He'll come out with a sweet deal for Ford. But keep Parker, and get rid of Bargnani.

June 24, 2008  10:59 AM ET

In a perfect world, the Raps would trade TJ to NY but only in a deal that includes the Knicks 7th pick in the draft, because the Raps could really use Westbrook. He could backup Calderon or play the 2. Not to mention Westbrook's defense would sure come in handy for the Raps whose D has been pitiful for too many yrs.

June 24, 2008  11:01 AM ET

Man I hope the Pacers can pull this off!!! I was a BIG O'Neal fan but he can't get it done anymore...bring in TJ...you got Danny Granger on the wing...draft an athletic big man and you got the makings of a good team in the east...O'Neal and TJ are both fragile but I'll take cheaper younger fragile over high priced older fragile.

I wouldn't give up much for TJ Ford not even for some of the bums listed on here.
