Apparently, the Maricopa County Police Department can do without Shaq. Sheriff Joe Arpaio wants Shaquille O'Neal to return his special deputy sheriff's badges to the Arizona county because of profanity and a racially derogatory word the Phoenix Suns center used while mocking Kobe Bryant in a freestyle rap video that surfaced Monday on the Internet.

Sheriff Joe might lock him up and make him wear the pink jumpsuit and live in Tent City if he does not get it back

June 25, 2008  08:24 AM ET

Good, glad there are some repercutions (sp?). If a white guy did this, all h.ell would break loose.

Shaq will never grow up. He will always be a lovable kid at heart. That's the way he is. He plays to the crowd. Shaq haters will come out in numbers again. Shaq did not do anything or say anything bad to his current team so he will be fine. You can say he is old and slow now but you can't say he wasn't one of the greatest. He has proven so much already so there is nothing people can take away from him. He just needs to stop dissing other players. That is his major flaw. All in all he will make any team that he goes on better and has done that in the past. For the Lakers fans, just remember that he brought 3 rings for Y'all. It's hypocretical to say he is the best when he was on your team and then when he is not there anymore you say he sucked. Does not make sense.

Awwwww the poor boy got his badge taken away....what a shame. I really was hoping to see him in s Sherrif's car after retirement. All that extra money could've helped him pay child support and alimony.

Another day, another story...on a player who must have attention, who must have his name in the news, and who took an early vacation this year.

Another day, another story...for Shaq obsessed fans.

June 25, 2008  09:16 AM ET

I guess there are consequences to one's actions. Altough, I don't think Shaq really cares .

June 25, 2008  09:18 AM ET

What the hell ever happened to free speach. Just because you make money doesn't mean you are not entitled to it.

Just because you can say anything doesn't mean you should and expect no recourse. Speech is free (Shaq was allowed to say whatever he wanted) - it's the consequences that cost you.

Every right comes with a responsibility.

His speech was irresponsible. That has consequences. Ask Don Imus.

If there is negative consequences to speach than it is not free. If I tell you you can have a car for free, but you have to pay taxes on it, then it is not free. free means no strings. If your at work and you say something bad aobut McCain who your boss supports should you lose your job because of it?
