Source: Pistons seek Davis trade
As the hours tick down to a draft that will start the ball rolling on the Warriors' potentially franchise-changing offseason, they can be sure of one thing: Star point guard Baron Davis will remain under contract for 2008-09. It's possible that Davis, who wants to stay in the Bay Area but was disappointed with the lowball offers from the Warriors, will ask to be dealt. And the team source said that the Pistons, rebuffed initially in their attempts to pry forward Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets, are now looking at Davis as a potential target.

Baron Davis, with what the Pistons already have? Now, that'd be interesting to see. Still, I wonder how much that might play with the Pistons' team chemsitry, which is a key to their success.

don't think they need Barron. a decient center so sheed can move to power foward full time is more of what they need.

Any big name that could potentially be moved this offseason will inevitably get rumored back to the Pistons. That's what happens when you have 5 solid starters all on the trading block like Joe D does. Pistons put themselves in a position to grab a great deal if its there, and to just wait otherwise. Joe is willing to listen to any deal, and is smart enough to consider one that is sweet enough, even if it significantly changes the focus or feel of this team.
As for Stuckey being the PG of the future, I think he might fit better as a 2. That boy can score. He would be better moving without the ball, posting and slashing. Pistons like to develop guards that can play both 1 and 2.

If they trade for BD, Billups is certain to be in the package sent to the Warriors. It's the only way it makes sense.
Stuckey isn't ready to start yet.

Pistons are messed up if they acquire another expensive point guard. BDiddy is really good but don't forget that the Pistons have a high qulity young player name Stuckey that is up and coming. This is showing that they are not too sure on the young guy and Billups.

Other times the Pistons **** things up: signing some no name Billups. Trading their leading scorer for a role player named hamilton. Dumping Grant Hill for some punk named Ben Wallace, and trading for the basket case Sheed. Result: Stone's **** up the Lakers so bad it caused the NBA to change the rules.
Well, the stones are ready to adjust to these new rules. Joe has a history of seeing things in players others don't see. As long as you don't give him a high draft pick, he's been golden...

Warriors needs a center so it would be better if they trade for J. O'Neal for BDiddy.

I thought Stuckey was the pg of the future in Detroit.

I think this just shows how unorganized they've become. One week Dumars wants to blow it up, trade for Carmelo Anthony, and Stuckey is the only untouchable on the roster. The next week he wants a point guard, and Stuckey and Billups are still in the house. Why is he even looking at point guards when Rasheed is the player he supposedly wants tp replace? Dumars is about to screw up, and the Pistons will implode.

I would love to see this starting four with a solid shot blocking, rebounding, and post up center. They would be scary good. No longer would I necessarily have to curse every time sheed is throwing up a prayer from downtown (I must admit though, once Sheed makes the three, I jump up and say, I told you so... atta boy..)

I disagree. First, Stuckey is being developed to play either guard position. If you have followed the coaching hires, it is clear he is putting himself in a position to keep Sheed. I think the move is brilliant, because teams are talking to him about creative possibilities that they might not otherwise. If something interesting or too good to pass up comes up, he'll take it. Otherwise he will sit.

I don't think it's a good idea to blow it up anyway. All this was a knee-jerk reaction to being bounced from the playoffs. The Celtics were simply the better team. All he needs to do is tweak a couple of spots to continue being competitive in the East. And you're right; if the right deal comes along, he'll
take it, and I think that's a mistake.

Im not taking the past moves away from you they were all good moves, but the Pistons did get to the ECFs' so why completely dismantle the team why not get rid of the problem child, and go from there.

Once again they were good moves, but why would you trade your core? The Spurs lost you dont see Peter Holt trading Tony and Manu.

At the same time, the Warriors look like a basketball team for the 1st time in years. I don't think Davis' injury history is a cause for concern. He's starting his 9th or 10th year and has been out of the lineup just once 3 years ago. He played all 82 games last season. I'd say that makes him OK. The Warriors are perhaps a player (maybe 2) away from reaching their potential. Not signing Davis and Monte Ellis would set them back to obscurity for another.5 years.
