Pacers sending O'Neal to Raptors?

Two people familiar with the situation said the Pacers and Raptors have discussed trading Jermaine O'Neal for point guard T.J. Ford and center Rasho Nesterovic, whose contract expires after next season, and possibly Toronto's first-round pick (No. 17) in Thursday's draft. The Raptors would have to include at least one other player, probably with an expiring contract, to make the deal work financially.

tj is done they will only get him to make saleries work. he is more injury prone than Mc Grady.

TRDAE BANGED UP FOR BANGED UP WHICH MEANS TORONTO IS MAKING A HUGE RISK ON O'NEAL. TJ IS AT RISK TOO, NO ARGUE ON THAT BUT WHY GETTING RIDE OF RASHO, AND ANOTHER PLAYER????????
ANY OTHER OPTIONS????? RASHO IS A SOLID DEFENDER. I UNDERSTAND RAPS NEED EXPERIENCED PLAYER BUT RASHO ALSO FALLS INTO THAT CATEGORY. WHY NOT TRADING TJ AND EXPENDABLE PIECES, LET'S SAY JOEY GRAHAM, MACEO BASTON AND SO ON........
OLD TJ FOR JAMAL CRAFORD RUMOR WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE THAN TJ / RASHO / PICKS FOR O'NEIL. BC: PLS DONT DO IT....... YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THAT, FILL UP YOUR SF AND SG HOLES. HOW ABOUT RICHARD JEFERSON. YES I KNOW IM NOT TOO CRAZY ABOUT TRADING PLAYERS IN THE SAME DIVISION BUT IT WORKS BETTER THAN O'NEIL. I'D BE WILLING TO GIVE UP TJ AND RASHO FOR SOME ONE LIKE MATRIX OR COREY M (LA CLIPPERS)

if you wanna throw J O'neal away well take him. Oberto Stoudemire and Matt Bonner.Lets make it happen.

June 25, 2008  07:36 AM ET

Scratch that just Oberto and Stoudemire.

June 25, 2008  07:54 AM ET

oberto and stoudemire for jermaine o? back away from the riverwalk punch, i mean jermaine o ain't exactly kevin garnett or even kevin mchale at this stage of his career,,, but he is certainly worth more than dwayne schintzius.

Rasho couldnt hit the desert if he fell of a camel and T.J is just aas accident prone as Jermaine so I ask you where is the trade value in that?

June 25, 2008  08:15 AM ET

so instead of trading tj ford for a 1st round draft pick as has been rumored, the raps would be better advised to trade with the spurs for stoudemire, who hasn't had value in ages... and oberto who is nothing more than a small role player. how many schooners of lonestar have you had.

tj ford has value. rasho, was a loser here and the spurs were right to get rid of him no matter what they got in return.

June 25, 2008  08:21 AM ET

Everyone needs to show Ford a little more respect here. He is not yet 25 and the only pgs better than him in the NBA are perennial all-stars. If it weren't for Calderon the raps would be thrilled to keep this guy. Anyone who suggests he is done has not seen him play since coming back from the Horford injury.
Also Rasho is a useful player for 14-20 a game

June 25, 2008  08:23 AM ET

Jermaine Oneal and Chris Bosh would be a nice one two punch.

June 25, 2008  08:24 AM ET

You are arguing w/me for no reason because the first line of my post was and I quote "if you wanna THROW J O'neal AWAY well take him". So spare me the cheapshots you **** idiot.

THE END

June 25, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Trade one cripple for another. Smart guys....real smart.

June 25, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Great trade for the Pacers. TJ Ford is great when he plays, Rasho is an expiring contract, and they get another first rounder. Bird is off to a good start. Now get rid of Tinsley.

Yesterday, Mike Well, the Pacers beat writer, had an unintentionally hilarious line he got from Larry Bird. "Bird said Shawne Williams is on thin ice, and Tinsley is even lower?"

Tinsley drowned? I'm sure that was an "accident" and Simon or Bird didn't do that himself.

June 25, 2008  10:01 AM ET

Jermaine O'Neal will be dirt cheap once his contract expired. He's not the same player he once was. Too bad, he was great when he was healthy.

June 25, 2008  10:31 AM ET

I don't understand why the Pacers just dont trade O'Neal to Chicago for Hinrich and Gooden. Chicago would love to shed Hinrich's contract, and the Pacers get a guy who's spinal cord works properly. Gooden isn't O'Neal, but he's solid enough for now. Seems win-win.
