When Malik Story found out he had an opportunity to play college basketball at Indiana University, he wanted to grab it, even if it meant enduring three days of airport delays. The 6-5, 220-pound swingman from Los Angeles, who committed to USC as a sophomore but changed his mind about a month ago, finally made it to IU on Friday. On Saturday, he said he will play for new Hoosiers coach Tom Crean. Story also had been chased by Kentucky, Oregon, Marquette, Arizona and Georgetown.

They describe him as being a swingman, I don't think we need to know about his personal life!

THAT WAS FUNNY
Seriously, I can't blame the kid, Coach Floyd has the OJ Mayo deal haning over the program and you have a chance to play for IU, known basketball institution.

Committing has never meant anything until paperwork is signed......and even then things can change.

Indiana needs all the help they can get, but then again, so does U$C

I think Howland has one of two of these pre-commits under his belt too. Regardless of what schools are involved in these loophole committments I still think it's a bad idea and violates the spirit of the law. One easy way to stop recruiting 8th graders is to stop drafting them. Let them go to college, europe, cba, whatever just don't let them into the NBA until they're 21. MINIMUM.

Do you think he realizes that he is the only player at IU?

Great snag for Crean. This guy is a great business man and architect. In less than Five years we will be a national power again. Awesome personality and he carries a sharpie with him everywhere.

Couldn't resist that one sorry guys

June 26, 2008  12:55 AM ET

If you're a short white guy who still thinks he has mad basketball skills, IU just might be right for you!

One & done.

What the heck does carrying a sharpie have to do with anythin g, besides an endzone celebration by Ocho Cinco

June 26, 2008  06:47 PM ET

While I wish he wouldve gone to USC, I wish him the best.

As for the Fucla guy, what have they won this century....0

June 29, 2008  12:09 PM ET

There are some white guys who have mad b-ball skills that are condidering IU. The sharpie infers he is a personable guy and likes talking to people and signs any autograph. How many coaches do that. Pitino doesn't i know that.

Crean seems to have a great relationship with his players. Of course, I thought Sampson did to: but now we know what he taught and allowed with his team lead to a bad situation.
It's a shame that Greenspan yielded to a few of the alumni & their wishes to get Sampson when Crean was really at the top of Greenspans list 2 yrs ago. Wow what a great situation that would have been for a hire.
