Edmonton shopping Stoll

Jarret Stoll is starting to feel like an old Ford Taurus on the back of a used car lot - like the salesman can't get rid of him fast enough. With a fleet of shiny new models arriving in Edmonton last season, Stoll, who hasn't been up to speed since spending 31 games in the shop two years ago, has become expendable in many eyes, including those, it would seem, of the very general manager he's currently negotiating a contract with. It's never a relaxing view from the auction block.

Popular Mechanics.

It's true! Jarret Stoll hasn't been the same since getting his bell rung. After his concussion problems he's been playing scared. And a scared Jarret Stoll is a useless Jarret Stoll.

His career in the NHL will be severely shortened unless he gets back to doing the things that got him there. He's a good Saskatchewan boy. I hope he rebounds.

Oh! And he better stop using those useless sawdust sticks of his. They crumble like a cookie every time he tries to shoot the puck!

June 25, 2008  09:52 AM ET

I'll gladly keep Stoll, somebody has to play point on the powerplay. That being said, concussions are evil things.

And I'll keep my old Taurus SHO as well....

This "journalist" needs to get a grip.

I feel bad for Stoll - bad concussion, bleak year, and town hero to trade bait in fairly short order. I hope he rebounds too DCruiser.

Good point Hank, he's still effective on the PP.

Alas, this is the nature of the game now...

BETTMAN S***S

He's a Chevy Blazer man.

Only if he switches to a different stick, which he may have done towards the end of last season. His wooden sticks were garbage! It was frustrating to watch him wind up for a one timer from the point only to see his stick shatter into a million pieces!

June 25, 2008  10:23 AM ET

I agree DCruiser. Just trying to concentrate on the positives for the guy!

June 25, 2008  10:47 AM ET

Composite sticks seem to brake easily too after they are bruised.

June 25, 2008  11:03 AM ET

See what global warming has wrought? Even lumer ain't what it used to be!

June 25, 2008  11:04 AM ET

Play the point on the PP? Isn't that what they gave Sheldon Souray 5mil a year for?

June 25, 2008  11:04 AM ET

I meant "lumber" above! My bad.

June 25, 2008  12:32 PM ET

He's got it wrong, it should be a Chevy Cavalier ( don't know the player but that analogy was baddddd).

True enough but as ofeten as Souray is injured they need another point guy as well. Together with Stoll they almost have one. Now if only injuries didn't overlap....

Wasn't Pitkanen supposed to become a PP pointman but never developed which is why Philly shipped him outta town? Did he just never develop or was he injury-prone?

June 25, 2008  04:50 PM ET

Pitkanen is not too bad but he is only one and doesn't have the legs to play every power play 100%.

When the Oilers made their run to the final several years ago it was Pronger and Stoll serving up heat for the opposing goalie. They were lethal. Souray simply never stayed healthy long enough to be of any use.
