Bulls still smelling like Rose

When the Bulls make the first overall pick at approximately 6:35 p.m., it will end weeks of debate within the organization on whether to add the dynamic floor leader in Rose or the scoring machine that power forward Michael Beasley projects to be. Representatives for both players said general manager John Paxson told them he would inform them of the organization's decision before the draft began Thursday, with a wide range of league observers convinced the pick will be Rose. And that would be just fine with the Simeon High product. "It'd be a dream come true," Rose told reporters Wednesday in New York.

The more and more I think about this pick the more I am starting to understand it. Rose looks close to a sure thing where as the more I look at Beasley and like everything about him the more I start thinking about Marcus Fizer. A big scoring PF/SF out of the Big12. I believe Beasley is a much better player then Fizer but I just feel wierd with the Bulls taking him. Just bring back bad memories. But with Rose being taken I think the Bulls need to look at trading either Gordon, Hughes, or Deng. Hinrich is the best defender on the team and will probably be even better as a SG since he is the most consistent shooter on the team. Deng is a good player but I am tried or saying he hasn't reached his potential. How much longer are we to wait, he has not become the player everyone believed he would be. He can't shoot for a good percentage beyond 15 feet and he is a career 29% 3-point shooter.

guard is a weakness with us and we drafted tyrus thomas 2nd overall like 2 or so years ago so we dont need beasely cause if you people remember, he was projected the same way almost..freshman sensation (diaper dandy) thats gonna bloom into a huge star..hopefully...

and ya know i dont listen to all this guarantee crap...

everyones said that about the #1 picks and ****...that there is no doubt that this guy should be IT!...

but they've been wrong many many many times before...leave it up to the people that are drafting him.

guard was a weakness...Pick the hometown boy

i totally agree with meteora

Rose will be a hit, no question, but it will take 2 or 3 seasons before you see all he has to offer. They should take the kid then settle in and be patient.

June 26, 2008  10:07 AM ET

Pull the trigger. In 3 yrs, 18ppg, 10a, 4rb, 2st. And he'll make Hinrich + Deng (if they're still there) better right away. Though I'm not holding my breath on their last 2 #1s. Man, I bet Pax would give one of his toes to have the Aldridge/TyThomas trade back. Oh, and Krhyapa. How did i forget.

Bulls just need to fill the whole, which happens to be the best player in the draft - OJ MAYO. Do we all forget this kid was playing HS Ball on the varsity team when he was in middle school?! Everyone thinks the kid didn't play up to his potential at USC... he could have put up 30+ a night no prob, but he wanted to be a great team player, for once, he wanted to be apart of the team - not "the team." And don't forget he was an honor student while at USC.

This guy is the real deal, and will be in the NBA.

READ: "Mayo commuted from Huntington to Rose Hill Christian High School, a private school in Ashland, Kentucky, since student athletes can play high school varsity sports as seventh-graders in Kentucky. In the seventh grade, playing against high school juniors and seniors, his statistics often dwarfed the production of players five years his senior. In his first game for his varsity team he scored 27 points, had seven rebounds and had three steals."

If the Bulls take Rose, the Bulls would have to be patient for Rose to develope as a chris paul like player. Rose is OVERRATED, even BAYLESS did better than Rose did this year according to the numbers. The safer pick is BEASLEY. BEASLEY IS NBA READY TO DOMINATE THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE HARDWOOD.

For the past 10 years Bulls smell like ****

I might be persuaded to take OJ Mayo with the pick. He's going to be a solid NBA player for years to come, but will Mayo be a superstar? He'll give it his all that much is for sure.

I think a lot of people jumped the gun on my squad last year. we tend to forget this is a playoff team who just flat out had a mental collapse last year. so honestly people, do u THINK they will be same this year? I don't think so! With the addition of Rose the skys the limit, and he's goin to push that ball in transition which is something this young team needs. Look at them on paper, WE HAVE THE DEEPEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE according to a lot of the nba anaylsts. And yes players do have a bad year, and tend to bounce back the following year. SO ON THAT NOTE, BRING ON ROSE! AND WE WILL BE BACK IN THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR!

Hey Lmatic

It didnt help with all the hoopla of Bryant taking residence in the Windy City

June 26, 2008  12:28 PM ET

the bulls will likely take Rose they dont want their arch rival my heaters 2 get the best point guard in the draft.

June 26, 2008  12:50 PM ET

If the Bulls believe they already have deep talent then they should definitely take Rose. He'll be the floor general and help them stay mentally focused and in the game. If they need a scorer, he's not the answer.

It sure would be nice if Pax would have actually hired a coach for this kid.

Still smells like Bulls.h.i.t

i would prefer the bulls to get rose, not because hes better, but because that will force paxson to make some changes, being that there would be way to many guards. i think that hinrich is a great pg, and was falsely blamed for last years disaster, if given a good team he can put 15 ppg and 8 apg. but i think gordon has more value right now because he has lead the team in scoring the last 3 yrs. thats why they should trade gordon, and if they can get rid of hughs, that would be GREAT, but they shouldnt give up on young talent like they did with chandler thats why they shouldnt trade away tyrus, hes got the makings of being a star, he just needs mins, you give him 30+mins a game and he can have 18ppg,12 rpg and 2bpg easy, same thing with sepholosha and the big center GRAY, hes 7ft tall and real good in the post. the only game the bulls gave him mins he got over 20 rebs, that was on the last game of the yr. and noce is the sparkplug from the bench, and his salary is just like 6mil a yr which i think is a bargain for someone that does so many things in the court like he does. i wouldve liked to acquire jermaine oniel for gordon and drew or gordon and hughs. or miamis 2 pick for the same thing, that way we would have beasly and rose!! imagine this rose, sefolosha, deng, beasly and noah and bench t thomas, hinrich, noce, gray... thats alot of talent, good for many yrs
