Chacon tries to explain his attack on GM
Already upset about being demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen, Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon was suspended indefinitely Wednesday night after a heated exchange with general manager Ed Wade turned violent an hour before the Astros played the Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park. Chacon, who realizes he might not play again this season, admitted he lost his cool and threw Wade to the ground after Wade insisted he go to manager Cecil Cooper's office. The argument took place in the team's dining room, which Chacon refused to leave when asked to report to Cooper. Chacon said he lost his temper after Wade cursed at him and told him to "(expletive) look in the mirror." Wade declined comment on the specifics. "Insubordination to the club," Wade said. "I'm not getting into the details. It's an internal matter." Chacon, who on Sunday made his displeasure clear after he was demoted to the bullpen, asked for a trade through his agent, Dan Horwits, soon after he was taken out of the rotation. The situation didn't turn ugly until Wednesday, however. "I said, 'What do you want to speak to me about?' " Chacon said. "He said, 'We just want to talk to you.' I said, 'Anything you can say, you can say to me right here. I don't want to go to the office.' He looked at me, and I said, 'There's nothing for me to say to you guys.' And I don't think whatever they had to say to me they were going to make me happy. I didn't want to get in a closed-room conversation."

hey, I dont know if I would mind that ECK. This guy was a big part of saving the Yanks 2005 season. Although I know his best days, which were just fair, are probably behind him.

What a fall from grace....This guy may have pitched his last game because of his temper...He already requested a trade earlier in the week, and with the way the Astros are playing: He would have received it. Stupid move on Chacons part..

Ed Wade is a d.ouchebag. he was the same way in Philly. Chacon should have jacked him up more.

even if wade is a ****, he's the boss. you don't see people in ocrporate america choking and slamming their bosses on the ground do you? it's insubordination. know your place. someday when you are the boss, you can handle lower placed staff the way you see fit...

Too bad Chacon didn't beat any good managerial skills into Wade. As an Astros season ticket holder, I think they need to have a fan appreciation day where we can all choke Wade and kick McLane in the groin and tell him to sell the team, possibly to Tilman Fertitta.
Wade is a good farm builder and horrible GM. As the GM he should at least attempt to treat his players with some respect, especially someone who just got demoted. If my boss cussed me out, I'd go directly to HR; I don't think Chacon had that option. Of course, he was an idiot for slamming his boss to the ground but I think Wade probably deserved it and I thank Chacon for doing it.

JaggedIce, I couldn't agree with you move. No matter what you may think of Wade there is no reason for Chacon to touch him. It's not like Wade is the same age. If anyone with a regular job touched their boss let alone choke him and slam him to the ground not only would you be fired, but you would probably also be in the back of a squad car on assault charges.
