Agent: Bonds won't audition in minors
Barry Bonds has no desire to play for an independent minor league team in an effort to spur interest among major league clubs. The indicted career home run leader remains unsigned, even though he batted .276 last season with 28 homers, 66 RBIs and a major league-leading 132 walks. Just last week, outfielder Jay Gibbons agreed Monday to a contract with the minor league Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Gibbons failed to receive a major league offer after Baltimore released him near the end of spring training. "He has nothing to prove there," Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, said Wednesday. "He doesn't need to go to an independent team and hit two home runs a night hoping to get attention to prove that he still has the skills that would warrant him playing at the major league level. His performance in 2007 demonstrates that he's capable of playing at the major league level for the 2008 season."

The man is the greatest hitter of ALL-TIME. Best ALL-AROUND of ALL-TIME. Bow to Bonds you pheasants. He does not need baseball because they already have a full league of freaks that have been juicing for a long time. Bonds got the dough and he's a smart man because he saved the money and planned for the futureS of his family's generations to come. Slam, blam, jam him up....go right ahead. It's you perogative....but give the man his due.

Thank you SO much. This made my day. It is so funny. I'm picturing Bonds walking around his backyard with a crown, cape and sceptre being followed by a group of large birds.

first off - the man is the best - but no wild birds are bowing down to him. my uncle has a nice pHeasant on his wall......
crap - i see now someone beat me to a pHeasant crack....
ah well......why are we all still picking on barry? have any of you haters actually read anything (other than nasty headlines) about the whole situation?
barry was unfortunately cast as the scapegoat - far too many others should be subject to the same ridicule and torment - although none of them even have half the skill of barry's pinky finger.
so go line up at your local gyms haters - buy some stuff out of a trunk of a car - and go hit 74 homers next year - it's that easy, right?
sure
long live the home run king.

I agree he doesn't need to prove he can still play. Anyone who thinks Bonds can't hit is really seeing blind. This has nothing to do with his playing ability. This is about baseball having him as enemy number 1 for steroids. I still think it is a joke but really I'm not putting much thought into any of this.

Exactly, the man might go to jail and he is a cancer in the clubhouse...simple as that.
And whoever said he is the best hitter of all time is smoking crack. Ted Williams will ALWAYS hold that title.

I think it has more to do with the fact that he's a completely selfish a**hole. Who wants a schmuck like Barry on their team? He doesn't think there's an "I" in "team," he thinks there's a "B-A-R-R-Y" in team - it's all about him, and only about him.
If you weren't such a dick, Barry, you might have a job.

Slinky....thanks for the response. It reminded me of that seinfeld episdoe about the guy who played the Wiz. He'd wear that velvet robe and crown and prance around. I can see bonds doing that. The crown would have to be huge to fit that mellon though.
