The Avalanche confirmed Wednesday that contract talks are continuing with goalie Jose Theodore and that it has given qualifying offers to four restricted free agents who finished the 2007-08 season with the team. Forwards Marek Svatos, Wojtek Wolski, Cody McCormick and Cody McLeod received the offers, enabling the Avalanche to retain their rights and the ability to match offers that might come when the NHL free-agency period starts Tuesday.

This is the goalie they are so hot on?

June 26, 2008  09:49 AM ET

Who else is there?

Don't get all crazy and give this dude a bunch of cash because he had a really good playoffs in a contract year. Not a wise decision.

I'd take Raycrofft over this guy

BETTMAN S***S

Why do you say that Spiny? (Genuine question btw)

We've seen Jose Theodore's MO before! Sign a big contract and take a vacation until a year before the contract is up! Put up good numbers during the last year of the contract to have something to bagain with and ............!

I don't trust him! I just don't trust this guy!

I agree being a long time avs fan, he had one good run in like 3 seasons, not worth it, but if he splits time with Budaj it could be a good combo, i think people forget about Budaj and how he carried the avs a couple seasons.

This is a funny story. Terry Frei wrote in the Denver Post this morning that contract talks had stopped. Theo's agent said that they will test the open market. Both papers are generally consistent, but I trust the Denver Post and Terry Frei more than the Rocky Mountain News when they conflict.

His autobiography should be entitled "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". I'd rather play Budaj. He's more consistant.

Don't give him too much money. He was just awful in the conference semi-finals!

He never quite recovered after winning all those awards in '02. He's average. Two and a half million tops.
