Free-agent point guard Sam Cassell, 38, has told the Rocky Mountain News he's interested in playing one more season and will consider the Nuggets. And there are rumblings that, with Chicago having drafted point guard Derrick Rose with the top pick, Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich could be on the move, with Denver a possible landing spot.

Denver nees him

maybe miami should pick him him if they don't have a viable trade option. he could bring along former 2003 first rounder (#13 pic), Marcus Banks and the newly drafted pg. or since that would mean 4 guards, that would mean they could trade one with haslem and ricky davis for a center.

where's that kid from ol yeller when you need him? put this ancient dog down

June 27, 2008  08:25 AM ET

Iverson, Anthony and Cassel all on the same team....yeah that sounds like a great idea. (Insert rolling eyes emoticon here)

June 27, 2008  08:56 AM ET

yeah Denver needs another guy who doesn't play defense. Cassell should be glad he has a job. He's got to be the luckiest player in the league after being invited on board the Celtic bandwagon.

Denver needs another me first guy on their team.

June 27, 2008  09:19 AM ET

They call this GIGO.

June 27, 2008  09:45 AM ET

I don't see why any team would want him. He didn't really do anything for the Celtics in the finals. He had one good game, but he shoots way too much to be a point guard. Can you imagine him and Iverson in the same backcourt?

June 27, 2008  09:49 AM ET

As long as it's not Boston, I don't care where he goes

So why did Cassell go to the Celtics then if he wants to leave now? He already had 2 rings. He had to take a pay cut, and he wasn't a missing piece that really helped that team.

He added no value to himself, so why? Really why?

Anyone who can interpret this alien's behavior, please let me know.

Cassell is hanging on. He likes the NBA life.

I think he wanted the ring but he also expected to see more playing time behind Allen. He thought he'd be the leader of the second unit and get to light it up.

Since Boston believes they have a winning formula, and rightly so, he would only see more of the same if he stays there another year. Thus the Nuggets comment. He wants to be a major contributor.

I hate to break it to him (if that is his thought), he will not be a major contributor anywhere he goes.

Somebody better break it to him, he doesn't seem ready to hear it. Obviously, he hasn't put his "life after basketball" plan together yet.

I heard this rumor last year. He wants to eventually coach and said he would like to study under George Carl.
