Is Hinrich next Bull to go?

Larry Hughes' contract appears impossible to move. By turning down a five-year, $50 million extension last summer, Ben Gordon, who must approve any sign-and-trade scenario, announced to the NBA he wants $10 million annually -- at least. With an overloaded backcourt that also includes Thabo Sefolosha, Kirk Hinrich has to be the most viable trade candidate and odd guard out, right? Bulls general manager John Paxson downplayed any imminent trades until the restricted free-agent status of Gordon and Deng is resolved. And Paxson suggested the Bulls would take a "cautious" approach with top pick Derrick Rose, likely bringing him along slowly.

send him to the Celtics, we can use a second point guard...we can offer B Scalabrine?

June 27, 2008  06:12 AM ET

Get rid of him and let him be with betta playas. He needs some of his own homies to thro the rock around because he wasn't wanted there in Jordan Land. Then again I guess no one is after J-Holmes left town with a big grin.

Houston was talking to them about Tyrus Thomas and Hinrich for McGrady. They should look into that again, throw in Gordon too. Rose, McGrady, Deng, Gooden, Noah with Nocioni, Sefalosha, Hughes. They should have swung a trade for Jermaine O'Neal. They could have sent Hughes expiring contract and Deng. That would have given them Rose, McGrady, Nocioni, Gooden, and O'Neal starting. I'm sure Indy would have taken Deng over TJ Ford with Hughes expiring contract serving the same purpose as Nesterovic's.

i think nobody should be untouchable on the bulls, with the exception of rose of course. young talent is overrated, especially when that talent never translates.

June 27, 2008  08:13 AM ET

I think the Heat will try to trade him for Haslem. Do the Heat really want Chalmers to be their starting PG or is that job going to be given to Quinn...

June 27, 2008  08:14 AM ET

I mean Chicago will try to trade him for Haslem

June 27, 2008  08:27 AM ET

I'm confused...who was the first Bull to go if Hinrich might be the next?

June 27, 2008  08:47 AM ET

hinrick has translated to the star point guard he was in kansas....trade him for an experienced big who plays D...haslem for hinrick sounds good for both t eams.

June 27, 2008  08:48 AM ET

Hinrich has been the subject of trade rumors all year. It's my guess that Chicago isn't really trying to move him, or they want more than anyone is willing to pay in return.

June 27, 2008  09:18 AM ET

The Bulls would be foolish to trade Hinrich. He is there best defender and is a more consistent shooter then both Hughes and Gordon. Gordon can only dream of $10 Mil a year if he can show he is a starter that scores consistanly. Trade Hughes and or Gordon and Keep Hinrich.

June 27, 2008  09:32 AM ET

When did Hinrich suddenly become trash? I understand by drafting Rose that he does have to go, but I'd love my hometown Sixers to send Andre Miller (even though I love him as a player) and his expiring contract to Chicago, where he can tutor Rose for one year and then get traded at next season's deadline to a contender. Kirk Hinrich is a rare player in today's NBA, he can run the offense and has a better than average jumper. Chicago was a unmitigated disaster last season, but what did Hinrich have to do with that? The guy who's less valuable in my eyes is Gordon, even though he's instant offense he's not a starter due to his height and he's a little guy who can score, and last time I checked, little guys who score don't win you championships. The Bulls have the first piece in tact, Rose is going to be a heck of a player, but whoever gets Hinrich will be happy.

June 27, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Ben Gordon is worth 10 million? I mean I guess if Jaric is getting 7 million a year then Gordon can get 10, but what has he done to even get that much?

June 27, 2008  09:51 AM ET

With their recent history of trades.....
I can see Gordon in a Cleveland uniform

He would be a REAL nice helper to Lebron

June 27, 2008  09:56 AM ET

O'Neal starting. I'm sure Indy would have taken Deng over TJ Ford with Hughes expiring contract serving the same purpose as Nesterovic's.
jabroni23 | 06/27/08, 06:56 AM

Wrong answer. TJ Ford was who we wanted. We don't need Deng....

June 27, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Gordon should be the one to go.

June 27, 2008  10:19 AM ET

Gordon is small and can only put up pts. Kirk can play the 2 spot alongside Rose cause Kirk can defend and hit shots. He had a great year the previous one, all the bulls sucked this year and that's not on him only. They can have Hughes play the 3 and Deng the 4, play small ball. The only problem I see is that most likely Hughes or Kirk will come off the bench and i don't think you should pay that much for a guy coming off the bench.

June 27, 2008  10:24 AM ET

Once again people im am a true die hard bulls fan, AND I WANT KIRK HINRICH OUT OF HERE! He is really OVERRATED and his jumpshot is not all that good, have u guys been watching the games? LIKE WHEN THE FOURTH QUARTER IS ON THE LINE? When other guys would have the hot hand, he would try and take matters in his own hands and shoot that broke *** jumpshot! And how about that over dribbling that he's so characteristic of? AND GOOD DEFENDER? HE CAN'T EVEN STAY OUT OF FOUL TROUBLE! HACKING IS NOT DEFENSE! DUHON NOT HINRICH was the truest point guard on the bulls and i kind of hate to see him go cause he would have been a perfect backup for rose. BUT PLEASE SHIP HINRICH OUT OF HERE!

I'm confused...who was the first Bull to go if Hinrich might be the next?

duncdaddy86 | 06/27/08, 08:27 AM

I was thinking the exact same thing.

June 27, 2008  10:40 AM ET

i think nobody should be untouchable on the bulls, with the exception of rose of course. young talent is overrated, especially when that talent never translates.

There's a contradiction in here. If young talent is overrated, why keep Rose? Who's the young talent that didn't translate, hinrich?

I'm confused.

Hinrich will be dealt somewhere, but the Bulls won't get a lot for him. Look for teams such as Indiana, Charlotte, Minnesota, Milwaukee to snatch him up.
