Nets lining up for LeBron?
The Nets gave themselves maximum financial effectiveness ($22 million under the projected cap of $58M, July 1, 2010) to recruit potential free agent (while boxing out the Knicks) LeBron James. . .and Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Clearing cap room two years ahead of time on the belief James' outwardly magnetic bond with Nets' minority owner Jay-Z (it's not as if he rhymes as tight as Biggie Smalls) will influence him to forsake his home state of Ohio is like building an elaborate spec house just across the Brooklyn Bridge in today's saggy, baggy real estate market.

why would anyone, especially the New York Post, start a rumor like this? why would he go to the nets?? he would be going downhill if he did that...cleveland is where he shines and cleveland is where he will stay!

i'm all for leaving for greener pastures, but i'm not so sure that brooklyn is much greener than cleveland.

If Lebron stays, he will become the KG of Minnesota. Too good to get decent draft picks, but not able to win the NBA Finals. His only way of winning a ring is if he gets out of Cleveland.

LeBron want to be part of the Boston Legacy and get to play with Pierce, allen, and Garnett, and is said to be willing to take a home town discount in order to be able to win 4-5 NBA titles.
Now, that is a rumor.

the cavs and lebron are really only a legit #2 scoring threat away from a championship. they're really not that far off. they play excellent defense and have one of the best players in the league. why the cavs won't bring in that extra guy to put them over the top is puzzling. lebron knows it and is willing to leave a potential winner to go somewhere where that may have struggled but has another star to compliment LB's game. he came to cleveland and turned that team around in less than 5 yrs with his experience now he could turn a team into a contender almost immediately. so the move away from the cavs is a reasonable one for LB. LB and vince on the same team is intriguing especially with the big chinese fella and rookie brook lopez on the blocks. i'd prefer he become a knick but the knicks have nothing really to entice the superstar to play there. unless the cavs make a move eithr prior to or during the season i think king james leaves his home state for the bright lights of the big city.

There is nothing the NBA wants more then their golden child to be playing in the NY/NJ metroploitan area. If you think the Lebron hype is sickening now, just wait!

Lebron will stay...Anywhere that has the money to pay him, will be moving him further away from a championship and for less money...I dont see it happening

I think the draft could potentially start New Jersey in a new direction. But LeBron doesn't want to leave Cleveland. If Danny Ferry gets off his duff, and brings in some help, a steady 15-8 guy, as a replacement for Drew Gooden, Lebron will remain in Cleveland. He just wants an opportunity to win. Ferry would be insane not to make that happen...by any means necessary.

Think about this lineup two years from now: Devin Harris and CDR at guards, Lebron and Yi at forwards and Lopez in the center. If even 3 out of the 4 (other than Lebron) become halfway decent players, that is an offensive juggernaut right there
Tell it - Miami drafted Beasley not Rose
Al Cheese - No way could they keep Carter and still sign Lebron, hes gonna be getting the biggest contract in the history of the NBA, $22 mil aint gonna be enough

they can make it work. the nets just got rid of the kidd and jefferson contracts and carter is locked in until end of 2010-2011 season i think. as the article alludes to they are doing just that making room to sign a big time star to play along side carter

Lebron is not going anywhere at any time. You schmoes need to start looking at the Cavs roster to understand that. Ferry's mid-season trades set up our expiring contract situation perfectly so that we can acquire the complimentary player(s) to take us to the trophy. We weren't expecting to get to the finals again this year, & we darn near pulled it off anyway (the Cavs were a mental lapse away from beating Boston, & we own Detroit). With how we just drafted, watch for a trade announcement in the next two weeks - - most likely for Redd. And it won't be our only move this year. Lebron grew up in my back yard....i've been watching him since the 7th grade. He is a hometown boy that is firmly planted in his roots with his family & friends. He OWNS northeast Ohio. He is the King here. Anywhere else, he's just a superstar that's one mistake away from being booed. Never would that happen here. And if you think Lebron doesn't know that, well you don't really have a clue then as to what LB is all about. He'll make his money regardless (oh, & let's not forget that no other team can offer Lebron as much money as the Cavs can).

He won't come to the Nets if they aren't winning first .. plain and simple ... I'm a Nets fan ... and it seems like the last 2 drafts, ppl are saying they had steals in both drafts ...Both Williams last year and the 3 picks this year ... future looks promising, but not the present

Anyway, don't hold your breath people. The Nets will not be in Brooklyn in 2010 and neither will LeBron. It ain't happening. That arena is tied up in so much legal wrangling, it's going to take at least 2 more years before they actually break ground.

He made a critical error re-signing Vince, but this just shows how Rod Thorn is amongst the top 2-3 GM's in this league.
It's a lot easier to GM when players WANT to go to a town (like miami, orlando)
NO ONE WANTS to go to NJ......
