07:00 AM ET 06.27 | A day after Shawn Chacon was suspended indefinitely for shoving general manager Ed Wade to the ground, the Astros requested waivers Thursday for the purposes of releasing the veteran righthander. If he clears waivers by Monday, the club plans to terminate the remaining portion of his one-year, $2 million contract without pay. Chacon, who told the Chronicle on Wednesday that he knew he would not return to the Astros, directed all questions Thursday to his agent, Dan Horwits. If Chacon isn't claimed off waivers, he is poised to file a grievance against the club through the players' association.
