Drake leaning toward retirement
Dallas Drake ended his 15th NHL season by hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time, in what was apparently his final game. Drake, as expected, has told the Detroit Red Wings he is leaning toward retirement, general manager Ken Holland said.

It's OK, Dallas! Sundin will take your place! Enjoy retirement! You've earned it!

What a great story for Drake to come back to Detroit and win the Cup. I'm not sure about Sundin, but the Wings have some good young players like Kopecky that can fill his role.

I meant Matts as a senior statesman. Now that Drake is retiring and it looks like Chelios won't be back, he'd be next in line for that role. And, yeah, Kopecky is capable!

Just like Bettis, Elway, and Strahan. Go out on top. Can you pick a better way to retire?! Have a great one.

It's always good to retire on a good note. It takes guts to do so.
Enjoy, you've earned it!

What a way to go out, coming back to Detroit and winning it all. Unlike the Dominator, who stayed a little too long

His timing is great, assuming he goes through with it. Assuming he goes, look for Aaron Downey to play more.
