Drake leaning toward retirement
Dallas Drake ended his 15th NHL season by hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time, in what was apparently his final game. Drake, as expected, has told the Detroit Red Wings he is leaning toward retirement, general manager Ken Holland said.

What a great story for Drake to come back to Detroit and win the Cup. I'm not sure about Sundin, but the Wings have some good young players like Kopecky that can fill his role.

I meant Matts as a senior statesman. Now that Drake is retiring and it looks like Chelios won't be back, he'd be next in line for that role. And, yeah, Kopecky is capable!
