Soriano may return for All-Star game
Posted: Saturday June 28, 2008 08:14AM ET
After another X-ray Friday on Alfonso Soriano's injured left hand, the Cubs said doctors are ''very pleased'' with how quickly he's healing, and he's expected to return from the disabled list sooner than the original six-week prognosis. The Cubs' leadoff hitter has been cleared to start range-of-motion and strengthening work without a splint, the team said. (Read: No batting practice yet). Soriano, who said last week he wanted to start taking BP this week, might have an outside shot at returning in time for the All-Star game -- his other goal.

Probably not. Teams wouldn't want his 5 or 6 years 100-120 mil left on his contract.

Report Offensive CommentDo they want him in the All-star game so he can show a national audience of youngsters how NOT to play left field? *laughs at Soriano's bunny hops while fielding fly balls*

Report Offensive Comment^ Piniella already said that he isn't letting him go to the all-star game unless he's miracally 100%, the organization isn't stupid, they won't bring back our "leadoff hitter" until he's 90-100%. We could really use a burst of energy, esp. after watching our past few games. I wouldn't mind to bring him back, but get him out of leadoff, leave Fukudome there.

Report Offensive CommentOther than the fact that he might be a bit fragile I don't see any reason not to like this guy, or to want to trade him. He needs to take his time coming back and make sure that he can remain healthy for the entire second half of the season, the all-star game should not be a priority (even if the game "counts").

Report Offensive CommentHe should be more concerned about getting back in the Cubs lineup than getting back for the AS game.......and he shouldn't even want to get back for the AS game because regardless of the fan vote.......he doesn't deserve to start......
