Ozzie wouldn't mind joining Cubs

Ozzie Guillen admitted before Friday's game he wouldn't turn down an offer to succeed Lou Piniella as manager of the Cubs if he's ever fired as manager of the White Sox. "I can not say no because you never burn your bridges," Guillen said. While Guillen is viewed by some North Siders as the anti-Cub for his incessant criticisms of Wrigley Field, he has a close relationship with general manager Jim Hendry. "You never know what's going on in life," Guillen said. "I love the general manager. I get along real well with everyone in the organization. I respect the organization. But I saw ( Los Angeles Dodgers manager) Joe Torre the other day in that Dodgers uniform, and it looked weird."

another manager who needs to know when to shut his piehole.

Oh wonderful. Sox fans will really love to hear this. This is the last manager the Cubs would ever want, Just to listen to him try to speak English makes you sick to your stomach!!!

If I had three wishes, one of them would be for Ozzie Guillen to be a mute.

You guys are crazy, Ozzie is one of the most entertaining guys in the Bigs. God forbid someone speaks his mind. I don't know how much he like Ricciardi, but he can come to Toronto any time he wants.

He's never let a thought miss his mouth has he.

June 28, 2008  11:40 AM ET

Yeah...Ozzie sucks...all he does is keep winning with a mediocre at best team on paper...won 2 championships out of nowhere as a manager and coach(marlins)...speaks his mind...gets angry when his team loses...never settles for anyone half-****sing it out there...Bill Wrigley...the Cubs are one of the richest teams in baseball with arguably one of the largest, if not largest, fan bases....try winning a world series and then talk...until then...keep on being lovable losers

Come to think of it, the Cubs do need a mascot. Suit that clown up in a bear costume on all fours and let him prance around. He loves to make a show of himself so this would be perfect.

Theres no story here the Tribune wrote it, you really can't take anything the tribune writes serious. Just because Ozzie is a manager that you would hate to play against but love to play for doesn't mean he is a bad manager. I've never heard a player complain or say he wouldn't like to play for him. Lets see Ozzies been managing for 4 years had only one losing season, a World Series ring, Manager of the Year, and two 90 win seasons with a mediocre team. And the Cubs wonder why they haven't won a World Series in a hundred years.

June 28, 2008  03:15 PM ET

Why would Ozzie say anything like this now?. His White Sox are in 1st place n could make it to the World Series possibly.. There's no need for him to say this now and make his players think he dosent like them n dosent want to manage them .. If the Cubs defeat the White Sox in the World Series then i understand why Ozzie would say that because the Cubs would be better .. But not now his white sox are making a huge playoff push n are playing great baseball.. He's stupid to be saying that

Shut Up Ozzie and you creeps that keep laughing for the Sox losses. I, personally, ain't playing and never did. Shhheeeezzzzz.

June 28, 2008  04:42 PM ET

This would never happen...

Pinella will manage for at least the next two years (maybe longer if the Cubs remain successful) and his replacement is already being groomed in the Cubs minor league system (Jody Davis, Ryne Sandberg).

June 28, 2008  04:50 PM ET

The have a better manager. Why would they want this Tony Montana wannabe?

June 28, 2008  05:00 PM ET

You already burned your bridge with the Cubs you dooshbag! And it's not that Ozzie is anti-Cub, he's anti-everything! His coaches, players, and even management!

June 28, 2008  05:04 PM ET

Ozzie is a drunk

June 28, 2008  05:04 PM ET

Yeah, he isn't anti-Cub. It's more like he's the anti-Christ. We don't want that **** anywhere near our Cubs.

June 28, 2008  05:04 PM ET

Why the Hell is **** bleeped?

June 28, 2008  05:13 PM ET

This is incredible...people like Dusty Gardy criticizing Ozzie mainly for the way he speaks English rather than his abilities..another way of racism... I bet that Dusty Grady is incapable to speak spanish or any other language other than english..I don'y like Ozzie's way but it's workin' besides he's the ONLY GUY that had won a world series for the Chisox in the last 80 years...the ONLY GUY!!! please be smart with your comments

June 28, 2008  05:21 PM ET

Ozzie, I understand your comment. What the heck, never know what one's future will hold. Joe Torre in a Los Angeles uniform is very weird. But live goes on. But if you leave who will take your job? Willie ? Gary?
The Tribune and another stupid article...
