Good for him. Maybe he'll be appreciated more in Italy. It will be a little weird having an Englishmen in the Serie A, but it should work out well. Congrats Inter, you just signed a great footballer.

This move was reported to have cost $14 MM. How was he so cheap? Was there not a better offer out there?

He just has a year left on his contract with Chelsea.
It won't be so weird to see a Brit in the Serie A. Gazza and Platt played in italy back in the 90's.

The guy with the comment above mine is exactly correct. Chelsea were in pretty much a 'lame duck' situation with Lamps'. They obviously had no intention of resigning him so they had to get whatever they could for him now versus risk losing him next year for nothing. Same scenario happened with Barcelona and Dos Santos' transfer to Tottenham. That's why you always try to sell players with 2yrs. left on their contracts (if you have no intention of renewing them) so that you still have some leverage and can get maximum value for them.

he'l be ok if he got people to hold and run for him like essien and makele did.other wise he'l be england version not chelsea version.

Inter also had Paul Ince back in '95 and he played well until he decided to move back for familiy reasons.
Lampard is a logical deal for Mourinho; he trusts the guy and knows he'll give him a new scoring option out of the midfield for the new scheme (4-3-3), especially since Ibrahimovic isn't your tipical central forward and likes to move on the wings...
Now I'm thrilled to find out who the Nerazzurri are going to get for playing those wings (Mancini, probably, and one between Silva, Van Persie and another Englishman - either Bentley or Walcot)...
