Bertuzzi back to Red Wings?

Always on the lookout to get bigger and edgier, the Red Wings will have an opportunity to do so next week, and with a former teammate. The Ducks placed forward Todd Bertuzzi on waivers Friday with the intention of buying out the remaining season on his two-year contract. If Bertuzzi goes unclaimed, as expected, he'll be an unrestricted free agent Tuesday, when teams can begin negotiating with free agents. The Ducks signed Bertuzzi last summer to a two-year deal worth $8 million. Bertuzzi, 33, scored 14 goals and 40 points in 68 games with the Ducks.

Now, why would the Red Wings want this dog back in Detroit? Ain't it enough that Crying Burke got his arse singed by giving this useless moron such huge contract instead of securing the services of a young guy like Dustin Penner.

Burke had the nerve of going into spasms and crying to the media that Kevin Lowe overpaid for Penner! Who is the bigger idiot now? Burke for giving a washed up Bertuzzi $4 mill, or Kevin Lowe for giving a promising young Penner $4 mill?

He's gonna be lucky if someone offers him 2 mil. Its crazy what one bonehead move can do for your career... he'll never be the same player he was pre-Moore.

June 28, 2008  11:25 AM ET

I wonder if Gretzky wants him on his Team again...?

June 28, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Goon.

June 28, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Bertuzzi is a gutless POS.

He should not be in the NHL.

June 28, 2008  11:49 AM ET

I agree that Bertuzzi is a goon and shouldn't be in the NHL after what he did to Moore, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in Pittsburgh with Malone and Roberts leaving. The Pens need a goon on their team that can put the puck in the net! I mean this guy would provide Crosby and Malkin great protection and a nice presence in front of the net on the power play.

Goon-bye- The Wings have way to much talent, his days are gone. Is Marc Crawford coaching anywhere? That's his type of player.

June 28, 2008  01:41 PM ET

Why....???

June 28, 2008  01:43 PM ET

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo!

June 28, 2008  03:00 PM ET

Kenny Holland didn't get this far by taking a flyer on a player who's already burned him once. Besides, Bertuzzi can't stand Babcock and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

June 28, 2008  03:10 PM ET

wings have mccarty and kronwall, no need for more enforcing

June 28, 2008  03:50 PM ET

This is the greatest. You get what you deserve, Bert.

June 28, 2008  03:50 PM ET

Hey Bertuzzi go talk to the leafs they'll give you some money , years and a no trade clause !

June 28, 2008  04:12 PM ET

You're def. right raydosity. I turst Kenny Holland will not turn to Bertuzzi this time around, he bolted for the Ducks with Schnieder after they beat us and won the cup, we don't need him.

June 28, 2008  08:44 PM ET

his play in Detroit was ok...he looked out of shape at the time...Played better for the Dirty Ducks, but seemed to take more than a few shifts off....for the right price, why not?

This guy's going to kill someone before he is done in the NHL. He is like a bow string under tension ready to snap and, when he does ........ !
