Bobcats almost traded Wallace
Gerald Wallace could have been shipped to Toronto. Charlotte Bobcats managing partner Michael Jordan confirmed to the Observer on Thursday that they were talking to the Raptors about a swap of Wallace and point guard T.J. Ford. The talks apparently hit a snag when Toronto additionally asked for a draft pick. Instead, the Raptors are moving Ford to Indiana in a trade involving forward Jermaine O'Neal.

As a Raptors fan, I would much rather of had Gerald Wallace than J O'Neal. And it all fell through over a lousy second round draft pick?? Good move Bryan Colangelo, it'll be really exciting watching Wallace at the All-Star game next year while O'Neal sits at home with another knee injury. Go Raptors! See you at the 2009 lottery.

Jordan is an idiot. His drafting of D J Augustine confirms it. The backcourt is solid with Felton and Jason Richardson--so what does he do? He wants to move J Rich to the 3 and acquire a point guard. In the process, he passed on the player they needed most which was Lopez so Okafor could go to his natuaral position at the 4. Maybe after they've experioenced season after season of lottery picks, he'll be able to make an intelligent decision.

Jordan, by far. And he's part owner, so he would have to be bought out. he can't just be fired like he was in Washington.

I wonder if the Bobcats' fans will be that patient. He had a chance to pick a player that they actually needed, and, he picked the wrong kid.
Mr Johnson made a mistake bringing in MJ, and making him part owner. At least he did, IMHO.

1) First off Felton may be a cancer in the locker room, may have failed a physical, etc, may be too streaky or the bobcats may feel he's not the type of point they need. Apparently somethings wrong with him or they wouldn't have been trying to hard to replace him. I mean they went after TJ Ford and drafted Augustine, so something must be wrong with him. Anyone ever think that maybe it's Larry Brown who doesn't want Felton?
2) For all the forwards out in the draft this season's draft, they could have replaced Gerald Wallace and upgraded at the pg position.
3) Finally, honestly since MJ has joined the bobcats, the talent has gotten much better. Only thing MJ may have done wrong is pick the coach that he did, but look who he has coaching now? He's definitely trying to create a winner and has made the right draft picks.

Anybody that knows Brown can tell you he had very little to do with this decision. He doesn't play rookies. Even if they intend to give Augustine a chance, it was still the wrong move because they needed a CENTER. Okafor wants to move back to his natural position at the 4. There is no help on their front line and and Augustine at 5'11 will be a liability on the defensive end of the floor. The pick sucks. It's that simple. Basketball games are won and lost in the paint.

It's been well documented that Jordan ain't the smartest cat off the court...
lets see... gambles like barkley wishes he could... He has never even picked a decent player in all those drafts much less a good one... He shoulda took that Lopez dude... they are dying for a good center.. anybody remember that hot wife he cheated on? that stint at baseball the world most boring sport to watch next to golf? I think the last good thing he did was for my kids....SpaceJam!!! Thanks for that Mike my babies love that movie..

I agree. They should have tried to move Richardson and rid themselves of the 3yrs and $40mil he's still owed by the club.

Obviously Brown has some say on who the team picks and trades. I never said he wanted a rookie, but obviously he doesn't feel comfortable playing Felton if the Bobcats are desperately trying to replace him with first, TJ Ford, and then in the draft with Augustine, when they definitely could have chosen a center . Also, maybe they have a deal in play where Felton will be a piece to pick up a center. It's easy to try to chop down Jordan because you can't say anything bad about his game, so you move to something different, but the really bad move i see was for trading for Kwame Brown and unfortunately, he wasn't the only one sold on him. Look at how many teams have traded talented individuals (lakers butler, memphis gasol) for brown's Potential...unfortunately, Brown was just an idiot. Stackhouse for Rip was an okay trade. Rip just meshed with the Detroit pistons. Jordan helped the team at the Forward position to help sell tickets. i mean try to tear the guy down, but stackhouse was projected as a better player during those years and still produces as a 6th man. His moves with the bobcats have definitely been nice...getting star power to draw fans and while not sacrificing talent. get a grip and stop hating because you couldn't find anything to tear him down in his personal life or game, so you move to this. i don't hear anyone bitching about Larry Bird and his thugs in Indiana and their underachieving...

just to reiterate, jordan hasn't been perfect, but he's hasn't been pat riley or kevin mchale. his worst move was drafting kwame brown and that's more so kwame's fault than anyone's else's. the guy is 25 and still acts like a minor with the catch incident and his laziness in practice. He may be borderline retarded I think. To be quite honest, with the bobcats moves, i would rather have Jordan making trades and drafts than have Riley doing it.

Cats should have picked Lopez. If everything else is even, always draft big.

In Retrospect, AL Jefferson and Emeka needs some help upfront to move them back to their natural and EFFECTIVE position which is the Power Forward.
They need somebody who may not be really a superstar or star at all but good enough to help. Same as what Nassim, Oberto, Nesterovic did before for Tim Duncan. Same as what Dean Garrett and Nesterovic done for Kevin Garnett during those better days in Minny.
So in this case, McHale did something while the Bobcats haven't.

by the way, just to quote sports illustrated when they graded draft picks:
"New coach Larry Brown passed over much-needed big man Brook Lopez for Augustin, and used second first-rounder (acquired from the Nuggets) on a big man from France who will need time to develop. Doesn't matter, since Brown will want to trade them both in six months anyway."
Nice to try to blame Jordan, but you know Brown picks his players himself because he's stubborn. In the paragraph, there's not one mention of Jordan. Appears Brown doesn't like Felton's game as I suggested.
